People who have to propagate an image of being ?hard? tend to do so to cover up some feeling of inadequacy. Same as people who are c@nts in order to succeed in the political or business world do. I could strip, reassemble and fire a handgun when I was 10 years old, I can kick a football straight, I can handle myself when necessary and I?m pretty well educated but I feel no need to use these things to somehow validate my manhood or value to society. Although admittedly I now seem to be indulging in a little macho posturing. A person?s value is the value that those around them ascribe to them. Personally I?ve found that neither being ?hard? nor ?successful? influences this positively. They are just self indulgent states of being. Oh and I deal with government on a daily basis and do not approve of the way it functions at all but believe me, people do not get to the top by being soft.
