  1. Bizarre. To the best of my knowledge the catholic church has no standpoint on neutering animals. Are you sure she wasn?t just a nutter? The only problem I have with people selectively breeding dogs is that mutts then get born by accident and don?t get decent homes because everyone wants some kind of pure bred dog as a fashion accessory or status symbol. In my experience mutts are generally healthier, more intelligent and make better pets. It?s something called hybrid vigor. Although I must declare my bias here as all the dogs I?ve ever had have been unwanted mongrels that I have taken in. They have all been great pets though.
  2. For - It does not have very good transport links and therefore has its own unique character and sense of community and will not become a facsimile of other areas (eg. Clapham or the ?C? word as it is known on here). It is also mercifully being missed by the imminent extension to the East London Line. 3. I used to live 'round that way and Bermondsey is definitely more connected to London and feels more urban than ED. It is also uglier.

I find them an unnecessary hindrance to my flowing, majestic prose. B)
  5. Surely sausage makers could tap into the local markets with the whole traditional goodness is best type angle that William Rose have?
  6. Yeah. You're right. It's just that from ED you go over Dog Kennel Hill to get to Denmark Hill Station. so it all gets a bit confusing. :-S Oh and there's a funny looking house on the way.

The hill was > named after the person who used to own the land.. Wikipedia has this to say about it: ?In John Cary's map of 1786 the area is shown as Dulwich Hill. The only building apparent is the 'Fox under the Hill', on the site of today's 'Fox on the Hill' pub. The name of the area was changed to Denmark Hill in honour of the husband of Queen Anne, Prince George of Denmark, who lived there.?
  8. Doesn't look modern to me. Looks a bit '70s.
  9. You never did.
  10. I have twice now seen a well dressed lady going into the boarded up house on DKH. I can?t see if she actually goes into the house itself as she disappears behind the bush. Could it be that your cabby has a squatter?

Keef Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > NOTE: I use the term "middle class pub" as a > reference to a thread on a Sydenham forum Yeah I read that guff about a ?Middle Class Pub? in Sydenham. Sounds like the kind of crap that my ex who lives in Sydenham would spout. Hence why she?s now my ex. Not that I?m against this whole gentrification (or East Dulwichifying) malarkey it just amazes sometime how insanely stupid supposedly ?educated? people can be. Although I take it that there are no relaxed boozers with a good community feel either considering your frequentation of a certain ED tavern. I think Nunhead is next personally
  13. Oh dear ::o
  14. "Penge. I've heard it's a lovely place but I've never been there myself." -any Robert Rankin fans out there? Having had 2 girlfriends who lived in Sydenham I always used to poo poo the place and make them come to ED on the weekends. However I was walking around there on the weekend (with girlfriend who used to live in Sydenham but is now fianc? who lives with me in ED) and a lot of it is actually very nice. We are actually considering moving there. Maybe...
  15. Tongues, cheeks. They put the lot in sausages Sean.
  16. It is preferable to the open air urinals they have on the side of the road in Shepherds Bush. Would be cool if they could design an entire building that was transparent from the inside but not from the outside.
  17. Jeez! All this over a sarnie! Glad I don?t like tuna and sweet corn. I?m more of a dolphin and foie gras man myself. Only organic, tuna friendly dolphin mind.
  18. Try the library Macroban.
  19. I was contemplating it and now that I?ve heard you say they were that good in ?96 I?m definitely going to. So in the words of Fat Mike; ?Call me fat fuck geriatric punk rock. Give me stickers I deserve.? ? Even thought the only thing I did in ?77 was get born.

  21. If my memory serves correctly there is just an amp up there. No cd player.
  22. What if you weren't there first time around?
  23. If there isn't you could bring a portable cd player and plug it in.
  24. I do believe that society has a duty of care towards ex service men and woman but we pay tribute to the state that employs them. The state should therefore give them the support they need. If anything is to be done it should be lobbying government to fulfill their duties. This is very much what the British Legion do. I think many people these days cannot identify with organisations like it though because the credibility of the armed forces has been damaged, and understandably so. The idea of people taking up arms to defend their way of life is fondly accepted by people and was the view that people had of the armed forces after the wars in the 20th century. The idea of a professional army employed and used as a political tool by a state that is increasingly less accountable to its people holds less credibility. None the less these people were employed and therefore should be given the support that the nature of their employment warrants. On Remembrance Day let?s remember the dead as a warning not to let it happen again rather than to glorify war. (at the risk of sounding like a hippy)
  25. Sound suspiciously like French cooking to me. Is that organic mongoose?
