  1. I?m all for it. The traffic can be diverted through the village. Knock down a few houses and put a flyover over the golf course. It will be great I won?t be woken up by police cars at 4 in the morning anymore. Or have to listen to the calming sound of busses as I drift off to sleep.
  2. I wouldn?t have vote for Labour. Come to think of it I probably wouldn?t have voted for the ANC either.
  3. Animals who have the ability to learn skills like grooming. Our mastery of such skills makes us attractive to the opposite sex. I think there is some primal correlation between a man?s ability to wash his armpits and his ability to kill mammoths. I could be wrong though.
  4. Yeah I was just being silly I do know it's a town but I still can't hear someone say it without wanting to laugh. ;-)
  5. Just read this. Glad you found it amusing. Surprised to see my name in the title of a thread. :)) How about, Northcross Gallery ? Salary? Can you think of any more? Go on, give it a Peckham Rye.
  6. know it all!
  7. I left relatively early too. After Mrs B suggested that I was pretty drunk and not making much sense anymore. Of course I protested my sobriety and gesticulating wildly I stepped backwards and fell over one of the barstools in the downstairs bar. So I conceded the point, bought the fellow with the wet shirt another pint and made my way home.
  8. Has anyone else noticed that Foxton?s shop front looks curiously similar to the Pick ?n Mix sweetie stand in Budgens?
  9. "Bognor Regis" lol! That's a funny name. Did you just make it up.
  10. Oh sorry Sean you got there first.
  11. I think the general consensus at the moment is 12 October. See this thread http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,49338,49856#msg-49856 Everyone is very welcome.
  12. I don?t really want to get involved in this but just want to comment the following. As someone who has visited both Greece and Turkey, as I?m sure many others have. It is glaringly noticeable how similar their cultures really are. Except for that one all important factor, religion.
  13. "He's buggered off!"
  14. 'bout 3 years I think. I can't remember exactly without taxing the old think box too much. I do remember I was wearing a coat the day I moved in as it snagged on the doorframe and I dropped the DVD player. That night I went to the CPT for some much deserved post move beer. I was still young and beautiful back then.
  15. Maurice Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Assuming this is akin to the UK's recent point > system, can you specify the a) required total and > b) point value of each... I?m an out borough type and I had to write a test to prove my East Dulwichness before I was granted residency. It included having to have a remedial knowledge of East Dulwich Rhyming Slang terms like: Goose Green Fair ? Au pair. As in, I?ve sent the goose down the crocs (socks and crocs ? shops) with the rigs (3 wheeled rig ? kid) so that I can go down 197 (197 ? Peckham) for a foxton?s (foxton?s fear ? beer) with my williams (William rose steak ?mate). Anyone else? No? just me? I?ll get my coat then.
  16. Oh I forgot Forest Hill is soon to become Dulwich Hill, Upper Sydenham - Dulwich Woods and Lower Sydenham - South Dulwich.
  17. Camberwell Grove can indeed join East Dulwich. In fact it will be taking the place of East Dulwich as East Dulwich is soon to be renamed simply Dulwich and Peckham is to become Dulwich Borders. Welcome, welcome, welcome. :))
  18. Yeah I suppose an evil super-villain hell bent on world domination still needs a convenient local pub.
  19. For those considering Foxton?s 0% offer. Look at what you could buy for the price of an ED family home: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7012020.stm
  20. What about bars, wine bars, gastro pubs or clubs?
  21. I have no problem with parents with buggies at all but some of them can be quite inconsiderate (I think it is transference of the public transport non-etiquette self-absorption that people endure so regularly). Why not just put some signs up with a gentle reminder that they are not the only users of the pavement and to be mindful of others.
  22. On reflection I can?t remember if that quote was from the book or the film or both. All I know is a tutor I had at university used it as a kind of mantra. I suppose that?s what you get for studying English, a boring job that gives you RSI and a flawed knowledge of beatnik literature.
  23. I think so. It's a dangerous stratery (as the book says) "you can't rewrite, 'cause to rewrite is to deceive and lie, and you betray your own thoughts. To rethink the flow and the rhythm, the tumbling out of the words, is a betrayal, and it's a sin"
  24. My brain is completely Monday-fried. I don?t have a hope of contributing anything even slightly constructive but still I find myself logging on. ?Just for one last quick look before I go home.?
