  1. Really sad news about Martin's. Bad enough the post office (while still excellent) moved up the road to the chemist.
  2. Purely for transport, Peckham Rye. Regular bus services to the station, open spaces with the common and park. Also nearby is One Tree Hill in Honor Oak and the railway station with even more trains into town.
  3. Gaynor Hill Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi > Is he in the grounds of the pub as I will see if I > can do anything for him. > Thanks > Gaynor He's in the sheltered bit on Lordship Lane by the Beer Garden.
  4. As part of the Met's cutbacks, they're closing Peckham Police Station, leaving Walworth as the only police station in the borough for people to report crime in person.
  5. Since ED became gentrified, there are pockets of social deprivation, rather than a wholesale area of it. I'd say the poorest parts currently is the area around the East Dulwich Estate, the part of Lordship Lane surrounding the Grove and Dawson Heights which have social housing and privately owned one bedroom rents. As I say, pockets as there are expensive houses next to those areas. I remember parts of Crystal Palace Road near the surgery not being particularly middle class twenty years ago, but times have changed.
  6. There's a rough sleeper who has made the Lordship Lane side of the Grove Tavern his home. Tarpaulin has covered up the area he's living in which is above the pavement where the old entrance to the bar is.
  7. Vermin Media - Oversubscribed, nowhere near the capacity they claim to have and yet they continue to sell the service in ED and across parts of London where clearly they can't meet demand.
  8. Terroirs is to open on 3rd November.
  9. I took my mother at 2pm the other day. Seen straight away, but then 5 people came in behind and had to wait.

Right across the road from their exchange is one half of LL without VDSL (otherwise known as fibre broadband), while the fibre cabinet nearest to the exchange serves the Lordship Lane Estate and Dukes Court. Not sure if that fibre cabinet also serves the shops/houses across the road. But certainly Norman Court and the houses up to Melford Road are ADSL only, so reliant on Virgin.
  11. Virgin Media is oversubscribed, so no real surprised the service keeps falling apart. I'm on TalkTalk on LL near the exchange and get 75mb down, 19 up.
  12. From what I gather, the Jade management have sold the Barry Road business to new owners who'll continue to run it selling Jade produce. This way, customers can still buy their food, but the new management will pay Jade for it rather than them running two shops.
  13. Condolences James.
  14. Mobile broadband may be an option, where you plug a USB modem into your PC. Three, EE and O2 have these options.
  15. I'd quit spamming for starters.
  16. I heard a party on the Lordship Lane Estate last night until around 10.30/40ish with women singing, but this must be a different party to the one at Streamline Mews, unless it was THAT loud?

They'll take them regardless of where they come from. However Sydenham Library is down the Bell Green end of Sydenham Road, so you'd need to change for the 202 in Kirkdale/Cobbs Corner.
  18. Old PC's can be taken to the following libraries in Lewisham as a PC recycling company manages those libraries. Crofton Park Grove Park New Cross Sydenham

  20. Noted a new sign went up at Val's opposite Dulwich Library, which has changed to the blander Lordship Lane Local. Another part of my childhood gone with the 1980's decor of Sadler's Pharmacy vanishing last year. At least we still have Red Apple Newsagents!
  21. 12 and 197 are running down Barry Road this afternoon, but the P13 is still on diversion.

The prices were normal until around 0830 when I needed the cab. I could see the GPS screen which was giving him directions to take those roads. He also was directed along back streets in Tulse Hill, Streatham and Balham to get me to the tube station on Balham High Road. Fare was I think ?16 for what should have been a ?10 fare which had taken 25 mins from the Melford Road end of Lordship Lane. A second journey using Uber to West Norwood sensibly used Dulwich Common and Thurlow Park Road, only diverting to avoid the Tulse Hill junction.
  24. Tile Magic never seemed to be busy which didn't warrant the amount of space they had. It's going to be cramped in the Bath Store shop. I miss the old Streamline scooter showroom.
  25. I remember using Uber earlier this year and the app sent the driver along Court Lane, Turney Road, Rosendale Road and Norwood Road to get to Tulse Hill in the morning peak instead of Dulwich Common and Thurlow Park Road to avoid the South Circular Road. Turney Road was really busy.
