  1. Worth noting that there are no Southern trains (except for Gatwick Express) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday next week. I'd expect London Overground from Peckham Rye especially to be a nightmare, along with the buses, especially the 40, 176 and 185. It may be better from Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park which has more Overground trains, but will be exceptionally busy.
  2. TfL would have seen at least an improvement to late evening and Sunday services, with staff at each station until the last train as seen at Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park with integrated fares for example between East Dulwich and the tube without the penalty for changing at London Bridge. Instead we're left with the farcical situation of Southern staying with the infamous GTR who have no incentive to improve services or improve staff relations as they do the dirty work of the government.
  3. When cars could turn right into Underhill Road, it wasn't the easiest road to cross as a pedestrian. It has also reduced traffic along the section of road up to Melford Road.
  4. Just went past, the water is still leaking and cars and buses are going very slow along that section of Lordship Lane.

The information is very fluid. It appears the Wimbledon's are cancelled now, while the 0809 is back on the timetable. So between 8-9am, the through services to LB are 09, 29 and 56. One from Beckenham Junction, two from West Croydon.
  6. The only way to access Wood Vale is to take the first legal right turn, which is on Overhill Road, then Belvoir, Underhill and Melford. There are plenty of drivers who will u-turn in the Lordship Lane Estate entrance to go back up LL towards Forest Hill.
  7. Bad news for ED/PR commuters, from Tuesday the Beckenham Junction trains are once again cancelled due to the ASLEF overtime ban. If Southern manage to overturn the ASLEF strike in the Court of Appeal, they will operate.

I believe you can't request any further information longer than two months. I'd suggest in future that you register on the TfL website, then request a weekly email which obviously will be stored in your email folder for as long as you want.
  9. Amazon don't like to promote it, but there is an Amazon Video subscription without Prime for ?5.99pm. However I wouldn't suggest that he watches the show over mobile broadband as it'll consume the data very quickly. Dulwich Library has free wifi, along with many cafes and Sainsbury's DKH where he can sit in Starbucks, but don't connect to their own wifi as they charge.
  10. I'd try the Think Broadband map at http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ That has more speed tests from ED.
  11. The 42 is more likely to get more busier once the bus goes back across into the City from January. While I sympathise with Red Post Hill residents who now have double deckers, Underhill Road between Melford Road and LL has had deckers since the mid 1950s and that street is barely suitable for them.

We've had anecdotal evidence and no real proof that it's pandemic across the board. I've visited Mem's elsewhere where they've been perfectly fine and I'm not exactly an alpha male. It's another one of those daft EDF threads that goes off on a tangent which turns into yet another xenophobic rant over nothing. At least in The Lounge, the banality can continue. If the OP has a genuine issue with the business, he should complain to the owner directly.
  13. Can this thread be lounged again? It's become even more ridiculous than the original post.
  14. I use the Mem's in Penge. None of the alpha male/homophobic behaviour alleged here has happened in that barbers and also ?1 cheaper than the Dulwich one.
  15. From TfL. CAMBERWELL NEW ROAD - Route 185 is on diversion from 1130 Tuesday 25th October until 1900 Tuesday 8th November due to a burst water main. Buses are diverting from Camberwell New Road at the junction of Medlar Street, left Medlar Street, right Camberwell Road, then onto Denmark Hill to line of route. Diversion is in both directions.
  16. BBC London reported on Twitter that Friern Road was closed due to a suspicious item on a 12 bus.
  17. I saw the police cordon off the roads including Court Lane and Friern Road (a 12 driver at the stand was told to leave) as I was on the 176. They mave have reopened LL as when I got off the P13 by the Grove, a 185 came down towards Lewisham.
  18. It may not be an option for all, but I upgraded to TalkTalk's Fibre broadband for ?32 inc line rental fixed for 18 months. I'm getting 75mb down, 16mb up down the Grove Tavern end of LL. It may not be as fast as Virgin's 100mb download, but is reliable and as far as I know doesn't dramatically drop during busy periods.
  19. Radio London 94.9 FM for those not in the know.
  20. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi BB, > I don't think Bus Stands are allocated to > particular bus routes. I don't recall seeing them > labelled. The LL and Friern Road stand is labelled for Route 12 only. It's a legacy from when the bendy buses used the stands. Incidentally before the Bendies were introduced, the 12 and 40 used the stand together in Etherow Street, however the frequency of 12's were lighter than they are now.
  21. With the amount of bus turns from other routes, especially the 197 which has had to park in Lordship Lane because the stand isn't open, something has to be done, yet I agree the current spot outside the church isn't suitable. The only solution I can see is for TfL to allow other routes to use the Friern Road/Lordship Lane 12 Bus stand which has four spaces for buses.
  22. 306 Medical Centre was so busy that I waited until 11.30 for a 10.40 appointment on Monday. However, it's still an excellent surgery, despite the increased amount of patients after the surgery at Dulwich Hospital closed.
  23. I work in a library outside the borough and once we had an incident where a customer complained that another customer was taking photographs of them. Eventually the customer deleted the photographs from his phone and was removed from the premises after the police were called.
  24. LJC56 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The full route isn't yet on the countdown system > which won't help uptake. I can get get data for the 42 bus stops in ED using my Bus times app on Android. The TfL website is still showing the route only as far as Sunray Avenue.
  25. Did anyone use the 42 this morning? At the weekend, the buses only appeared to have 1-2 people or carrying air.
