  1. At ED earlier, two trains to London Bridge were cancelled in a row with a gap of around 45 minutes between trains. Something is still not right.
  2. With respect to Foxy, it's yours and Louisa's posts which have stuck out as being anti-M&S, this despite Louisa's claims that she shops in the store daily. However I find it hard to believe what she says at times considering she was relegated to The Lounge for over a year. Of course M&S like the Co-op and Sainsbury's aren't free of criticism, but it does seem relentless, considering the general attitude is that it's welcomed.

  4. First trip to M&S today. Order and collect service is excellent, although one item of clothing still hasn't arrived, which isn't the fault of the store. The range is typical for a Simply Food/Foodhall, although the bakery doesn't do the full range of cakes baked in-store, otherwise I was able to purchase what I'd normally get in a food hall inside a regular M&S. While busy, there was no queue for the checkouts and self-service, although I found the self checkout very fiddly to use and needed help from the assistant. I don't think M&S will be a flop in ED, there were still plenty of customers and the collection cupboards were full of online orders.
  5. ITV and Channel 4 both normal and HD are fine here on Freeview.
  6. I hope it's only a temporary issue with stock levels as custom levels to a normal pace, otherwise residents will complain about deliveries.
  7. If you decide to move there and use standard broadband, the internet is very slow on the DKH Estate due to the fact the telephone lines are connected to the Brixton exchange, rather than Dulwich or Peckham. Fibre is fine though.
  8. I had an air lock in my pipes which is common after a long time of the water being switched off, which leads to a trickle of water in the hot taps. As a council tenant, Mears plumbers came round to fix it and the engineer said they've spent the week resolving the issue in council properties across ED.
  9. I haven't popped inside yet, but will be in next Tuesday to pick up some clothes ordered online. No more long trips for Click & Collect at Lewisham, Brixton or the Walworth Road.

Please contact our team on 0800 3169800 if you are still experiencing issues with your water supply. We apologise for any inconvenience caused
  11. Now have cold water in the bathroom and the cistern is filling normally. Hot water is low pressure.
  12. Message last updated: Monday 29 August 2016 - 18.55PM. We apologise to customers who are still experiencing issues with their water supplies in the SE22/23 postal area. This is due to a burst water main on Lordship Lane. Our teams are on-site and working hard to restore your supplies as quickly as possible. We have started to re-route water through our network. Due to this being a complicated repair, this process can take a couple of hours. Customers should notice a positive change to their water pressures within the next 1-2 hours. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    new M&S

From M&S's own corporate website. "We have 914 UK stores, including 222 owned and 349 franchise Simply Food stores." I remember the anti-Sainsbury's sentiments in the 90s, but they faded. M&S is here to stay.

I've bought large 5 litre bottles of mineral water for the toilet, which you can then pour in the cistern between use.

The Co-op is mainly passers by as well. There's no denying that you have cars on your street during shopping hours but they account for a minority of customers to the Lane's shops. M&S wouldn't go to the effort of acquiring the site if they felt that they couldn't get enough trade.

    new M&S

The new Foodhall is not designed to go for your main shop. It'll be passers by, commuters etc who'll use it for a sandwich or a top-up shop.
  18. Low water pressure on the Lordship Lane Estate. There was no work happening at the affected site when I went past.
  19. I go to Penge once a week, if I need anything from Iceland, I pop in that one.
  20. Iceland were around for years (previously as Bejam) who sold convenience ready meals which were heavily processed. M&S don't sell that type of ready meal product.
  21. I doubt the Co-op will sell. They recently sold a load of stores and LL isn't one of them.
  22. Sainsbury's won't be too concerned. The new M&S is too far away, but is close enough to the Co-op.
  23. The post office didn't look like it was open today, the shutters were half down with a lot of building material outside. The fruit stall was still open outside though.
  24. I live close to the current sub PO. A quick check of the Branch Finder brings up these four alternative branches. Forest Hill Road 42 Forest Hill Road, East Dulwich, London, Greater London SE22 0RR Dulwich Village 47 Dulwich Village, London, Greater London SE21 7BN Forest Hill Forest Hill Station, Devonshire Road, London, Greater London SE23 3HD East Dulwich 74 - 76 Lordship Lane, London, Greater London SE22 8HH As I don't drive, the first option is either a brisk walk or I have to catch the 363 from Underhill Road.
