Local Station Ticket Office Closures
Bic Basher replied to danielson00's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Another reason why Thameslink shouldn't have been handed Denmark Hill instead of London Overground. -
Even if the company behind Southern and Southeastern operate the London Overground concession, it's TfL who stipulate the services operated and is accountable to the Mayor of London. This is the same model that is used on the DLR and buses. The current operator LOROL has done an excellent job in providing the Overground service so far and the new company will also have to provide the same level of service according to TfL guidelines.

They've kept season tickets from stations they took over out of Liverpool Street. It's very likely they'll keep that model for Southern and Southeastern. Southeastern services will move to TfL in 2018 (Victoria to Dartford via Peckham Rye, Victoria to Orpington via West Dulwich). This should mean improvements to late evening and Sunday services and fully staffed stations at Nunhead, West Dulwich and Sydenham Hill until the last train. Southern moves across in 2021. However it appears Thameslink trains on the Wimbledon Loop and to Sevenoaks will stay with them, along with Denmark Hill station.

Hello BT Ridiculous how I can stream Amazon Prime Video using a crappy cheap as chips TalkTalk ADSL connection with no break in connection during the evening, yet Virgin customers who pay for a 'premium' service can't do that.

Oyster prices Forest Hill or HOP ?5.80/?9.20 single East Dulwich or Peckham Rye ?6.50/?9.70. East Croydon ?3.00/?5.20 It can be cheaper to touch out and in again at East Croydon or change at West Croydon for the Overground.

Personally I'd cable everything that is possible to do so, such as the PC, Laptop and Smart TV using Ethernet cable. You get the full speed given by Virgin, where as you lose some of the speed via wi-fi. The further away from the router, the slower it is.

Virgin's network in ED (and other parts of London) are over subscribed. So you end up in the peaks, even with Virgin's traffic management system in place during peak times during the evening with a very slow service. They really shouldn't be selling the service here or offering it at a vast discount. TalkTalk have had their fair share of problems in the last few months, but at least I get a solid connection and can stream YouTube/Now TV/Netflix even during the busiest of times.

From what I've been told which is unconfirmed, the postman had a knife held to him on Lordship Lane Estate's Bew Court, he then lost his balance and cracked his head open from the fall. -

I thought it was the other way round? Sainsbury's bought the site from Hamlet and built the current stadium. -

Laur Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I haven't had any post since Christmas - I'm near > Overhill Road. Is anyone else having the same > problem? The Royal Mail have axed some postal deliveries in and around the Lordship Lane Estate since Christmas week after a postman was assaulted. Residents can collect post from the delivery office in Silvester Road Mon, Tues, Thurs-Sat 10am-1pm and Weds 10am-8pm. -
New local newspaper for Dulwich
Bic Basher replied to Dulwich Diverter's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Always wondered if the Peculiar would expand to Dulwich, either as a extension of the current paper or as a stand-alone title. Good to see that you're attempting to go for the latter. The niche editorial format of the current paper should go down well here, leaving the SLP and Southwark News to do what they do best. -

It's also common for the Co-op ATM to run out of money. Losing three HSBC ATM's will put pressure on those remaining ATM's which will see longer queues, especially at Barclays. Further up the road, Lloyds ATM also runs out quickly at the weekend, despite a neighbouring ATM at Sainsbury's Local. -

The main issue with the 176 is that since the changes to the Elephant & Castle roundabout, journeys from ED to central London are taking much longer. (This isn't an issue during the festive period, but will return on Jan 4th when everyone goes back to work).

You can take a short cut via the council houses between Friern Road and Etherow Street to the first 12 bus stop on Barry Road.
