  1. TfL plan to add an extra two trains per hour to Clapham Junction and Crystal Palace from 2018. This will see six Overground trains per hour serving Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye and 10 at Honor Oak Park and Forest Hill. http://www.southlondonpress.co.uk/article.cfm?id=4010&headline=More%20trains%20planned%20for%20London%20Overground
  2. If you don't live directly on the 63 bus route. 185 to Camberwell, then the 45 or 176 or 40 to Elephant then the 45 or 63.
  3. I've been using the large 10p Sainsbury's bag for life for a while now, which have been easy to replace. Popped into DKH today where they had a range of bags from 5p (the flimsy replacement for the free bags) to ?2.50, yet when I asked about the 10p bags, the security guard said "We no longer do them"
  4. Shepherd's is currently a Londis franchise. I'd hope if Sainsbury's take over, the shop will keep it's heritage feel and not one of their ghastly signs that they have at the Lordship Lane Local.

  6. I went up to Tesco last week and they had the 5p bags already (not charging yet) and they're stronger.
  7. The new PO opposite Dulwich Library hasn't been open a month and the opening times have changed already. Mon-Sat 7am-8pm Sunday 8am-8pm. While still a massive improvement on the old post office, it's clear there isn't a demand for a late night PO service or simply that they haven't got a trained member of staff to supervise the counter.
  8. No such thing as a NR zonal ticket, it's a Travelcard or a NR point to point season ticket which allows you to travel to the station on the ticket and intermidiate stations. Depending on where you wish to travel to, some point to point tickets allow for cross-London transfer on the Underground.
  9. Have to disagree about the Ethernet socket. I get 17mbps on TalkTalk's ADSL2+ broadband connected via Ethernet, while it's 11mbps via wifi. If you use the BT Broadband DSL checker, it gives you an idea of what speeds to expect and what exchange you're on. Most in SE22 are served by the Dulwich exchange, but if you're in the DKH area, you're served by the Brixton exchange where DSL speeds can be from 3-6mbps. https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/
  10. If at the Goose Green end of ED, the 484 is considerably faster than the 185 which gets caught in traffic jams along the South Circular.

  12. BBC London are reporting that all Boris Buses will be retrofitted with windows that can be opened.
  13. Going back to the 76 LL PO proposal. A shame they're keeping the current queuing system instead of the waiting room area used in some other post offices which work better than the long queue that sometimes goes out of the door.
  14. The keys were finally found on the junction of Melford Road and LL today. Thanks to whoever left the keys there.
  15. My mother lost her keys by the row of shops opposite the Grove Pub on LL at around 1pm on Sunday. They have a Mickey Mouse and Eiffel Tower on the keyring. If anyone spots them, please call 101 and quote CAD4929/13th September.

  17. James, Do you know with the move of of the 369 LL Post Office to Costcutter next Tuesday if the postbox currently outside which has a later collection of 5.30pm is moving to Costcutter too?
  18. Sainsburys have recently had new wi-fi installed which is free and works in the Starbucks cafe. Also usually quiet with plenty of space to work from.
  19. I remember when the Esso on London Road just had that little shop, then it was turned into a Tesco and it's never been so busy.
  20. Elmgreen is pretty straight forward to get to on the P13 as long as it turns up, although as suggested, I'd get the train from ED if you're closer to the station.
  21. The new black NOW TV box is pretty good, ?15 from Nowtv.com or you can buy a box with a movies, sports or entertainment pack. There are heavy discounts on the old white box in Sainsburys and other retailers.
  22. Some options off the top of my head. Kingsdale is around a 10-15 walk from Dulwich College. Walk up College Road, then Hunts Slip Road which leads into Alleyn Park. I used to work at the bottom of Gipsy Hill and walked past Kingsdale daily. Get the train to Gipsy Hill, the school is a 5-10 min walk from the station. Trains leave from East Dulwich or Forest Hill every 30 mins. Also Route 322 from Crystal Palace will drop you off at the bottom of Gipsy Hill from Crystal Palace. Also mentioned, Route 3 from West Dulwich Station or Crystal Palace to the Gipsy Hill stop.
  23. Dulwich Common is closed for resurfacing work between Lordship Lane and College Road from 2100-0500 until Monday 7th September. Road diversions are via LL, DKH, Denmark Hill and Herne Hill. P4 and P13 are also on diversion.
  24. As mentioned above, it's more likely that your partner's phone was randomly chosen to receive these calls. I've had the PPI/Accident Claims people try it on my landline and mobile, despite not giving it out.
