  1. It's a slight re-routing in the TCR area if going up there as part of the works to make Tottenham Court Road a two way street.
  2. A correction to the sorting office times. Wednesday is 0630-1730 Xmas Eve is 0630-1500.

Yes, by a person. Royal Mail will not be delivering to the estate until they're happy that it's safe for their employees to deliver to that part of LL.
  4. The Royal Mail have put notices up on the Lordship Lane Estate mentioning that a postman was attacked this week and have suspended delivery until further notice. Residents can collect their mail from the sorting office from 0900-1300 Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri or 0900-2000 on Wednesday.
  5. Considering the problems with the new Elephant & Castle junction, I'd give the 40 a wide berth.
  6. 5.30pm collection from the postbox outside the old Sub post office next to Sainsbury's Local.

    GP advice

306 Medical Centre. Busier than it used to be, but they really do try and get you an emergency appointment in-house before referring you to the Lister.
  8. The 12, 63, 176 (especially) and 363 are all being affected by the new road layout at the former Elephant & Castle roundabout.
  9. Can't see it being a full market. I've been to Sainsbury's on Boxing Day and it's the only day of the year where you can easily breeze in and out during the day.
  10. Seen it quite a few times at LL by Overhill Road.
  11. The Herne Tavern hasn't become anything resembling a gastro-pub or a hipster hang-out.
  12. I remember the last time that bus stop didn't have a bus shelter, it took them months to replace it.
  13. Considering the ELL extension has been on the cards for years, it's surprising that the design really doesn't cater for the massive spike in new passengers. With the additional one train per hour from Kent, designed to be an interchange for Kent passengers to use the Overground instead of travelling to Victoria to get to the likes of Canary Wharf, the station still appears to be one big mess. Forest Hill at least as mentioned has two entrances, which at least evens out the passenger flow. The least Thameslink can do is at least add another ticket machine for Oyster. If East Dulwich can have two machines and is less used than Denmark Hill, so can they. It's also worth noting that since earlier this year, Southern and Thameslink are brands of one overall train company, Govia Thameslink Railway. Same management, different brands, so in reality Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye and East Dulwich are all operated by the same company.
  14. Another idea would be to pressure the DfT to hand the station management from Thameslink to London Overground. This would bring adequate staffing to what is a busy station and not some suburban backwater like most of the other stations Thameslink manage on the Catford loop, along with a staffed Oyster ticket machine at the ticket office. Out of all the train companies who use Denmark Hill, London Overground operate four trains per hour in each direction, Southeastern three and yet Thameslink manage the station with just two per hour.
  15. At Forest Hill, if the gates are unsupervised, the ticket office clerk has a button to open the gates if required. However unlike Denmark Hill, the station has at least one member of staff from first to last train.

  17. Thameslink replaced Southeastern in operating the station since December 2014. Worth giving them complaints at the link below. http://www.thameslinkrailway.com/contact-us/ Why London Overground didn't get this station to operate beggers belief.
  18. A 15 year old boy has been charged with attempted murder. Goes to court in the morning. http://www.itv.com/news/london/update/2015-11-20/boy-accused-of-attempted-murder-over-school-stabbing/

The BBC report at least tried to support the school with the statement from the head and the interviews with parents also showed the school in a positive light. ITV on the other hand are too busy scare-mongering when parents and pupils need to feel reassured that the school is safe. Journalism at it's worst tonight.
  20. ITV took a more negative stance on this incident. https://youtu.be/rffPS_ItRzA

And yet they'd rather have a derelict pub than a fast food outlet. McDonalds on Westhorne Avenue I believe uses a former pub.
  23. I'd wholly support James' move to Barclays. The staff are friendly and helped my mother no ends to open an account there.

  25. Re: Night buses, Arriva already use some quieter Enviro 400 buses overnight. It's the daytime buses, which are Alexander VLA buses which are the vehicles with the noisy engines. They were given a two year extension until 2017 to use those buses before the contract is up for renewal.
