  1. Hampstead and Kilburn (which is probably close to Dulwich and West Norwood demographically) also voted Labour back in with a tiny majority. This is an area also full of media luvvies, well off people etc who are more liberal leaning than in other parts of the country. If the old Dulwich constituency area was still in place, I still think Helen Hayes would have been elected, but it'd be a more interesting fight between Labour and the Tories. As mentioned, it's the old Norwood seat which will maintain Labour in Dulwich as a safe seat.
  2. Returning to the election result. Labour campaigned hard here, including a visit from our new MP two weeks ago. While I voted Labour for the first time in a General Election as I didn't like our ex North London based MP who I felt was disconnected with our area, I have a lot of respect for James Barber and the work he's done and continues to do as a Ward Cllr in ED ward. He, Simon Hughes and Vince Cable were the victims of being associated with a party who propped up the Tory Coalition.
  3. I didn't get a polling card this year, but emailed Southwark's Electorial Services who said I'm on the register and to turn up anyway.
  4. Forest Hill Road and Wood Vale on the Lewisham side are administered by Southwark, so the 20mph rule on both sides of the boundary. A small section of the A2216 Lordship Lane between Melford Road and Dulwich Common is still 30mph as it's administered by TfL and part of the South Circular red route.
  5. I was lucky enough to see a preview screening of a film in Soho last night in a 37 seater private cinema. Comfortable seats, excellent sound and no people eating popcorn or talking.
  6. Try an indoor aerial and see if you get any picture. If so, it's a fault with your outdoor/communal aerial.

That would seem the most practical as you can't have the bus running in both directions along either Upland or Dunstans.

(There is a > machine to pick up tickets that are pre-booked > which I will use in the future.) It's becoming common to purchase tickets from the bar/fast food section than from an allocated ticket office. Peckham Plex does the same, although they'll open up other tills if the queue gets too busy.
  9. I probably won't pop down until Ted 2 comes out or a decent French film which isn't shown at 10.20am on a Sunday.
  10. The P13 diversion appears to be an unnecessary zig zag. Previously when Underhill has been closed, the buses have been diverted along the whole of LL.

Cineworld appear to be using the Picturehouse brand to mark up prices as they're mainly in gentrified areas where the customer base will spend more than in an area with a Cineworld, i.e. Croydon.
  12. The good news about this proposal is that the PO remains a standard crown PO with no additional retail outlet. I've used the self service terminals at a central London PO and it does speed up transactions.

Picturehouse is hardly a small cinema group. It's owned by Cineworld. Incidentally Cineworld currently doesn't charge a booking fee, but will reintroduce one for phone/online transactions from July 1st. http://www.cineworld.co.uk/blog/fees
  14. You can just pop down the Picturehouse and book without a booking fee or turn up before the screening.
  15. The listings are now up for this week. The first film that the general public can watch is Avengers: Age of Ultron at 12.15pm on Thursday. https://www.picturehouses.com/cinema/East_Dulwich_Picturehouse
  16. I went on a Boris Bus 12 on Sunday. Despite the temperature being around 13c on Sunday, I had to unzip my jacket and the air was stale.
  17. Are the seats as comfy as they look on Twitter?
  18. It's more likely I'll be waiting for a 197 to Peckham in the future during hot days. It's not practical for me to carry my shopping thanks to the lack of legroom and sauna like conditions inside.
  19. Southwark News is reporting that the conversion to Boris Buses will be complete by the end of the month.
  20. Have any of the local candidates actually canvassed at your door yet? So far, I've had Helen Hayes, the Labour PPC knock and discussed policy for 15-20 mins. Pretty convincing, but nothing from the other parties yet.
  21. What film are they showing during the members only weekend?
  22. I've noticed since the Overground started at Forest Hill how much more busier the museum and gardens are all year round. Horniman Park across the road was packed full of kids when we had the spring weather earlier in the week.
  23. The Gardens certainly doesn't cover Copleston Road. The nearest street is one side of Ondine Road. http://www.thegardenssurgery.co.uk/register-with-the-practice.html
  24. Evgeny Lebedev also owns the London Live tv channel.
