Serious car accident in Dulwich Common
Bic Basher replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dulwich Common has re-opened. -
Dulwich Common is currently closed between LL and College Road due to a pile-up involving two cars. London Fire Brigade report six people had to be cut of the vehicles and have been taken to Kings. Routes P4 and P13 are also on diversion.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Bic Basher replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
After re-reading the letter I also received today. I gather that I'm not on the open register and then the third paragraph explains what the open register is. -
London Bridge is closed 23/8 to 31/8

Those of you who use HOP or Brockley, there's a replacement bus service to Ladywell and Lewisham to connect with Southeastern and DLR services operating in the morning peak from 0630-0930. London Overground are operating four additional trains per hour between Crystal Palace and Canada Water in the peaks, however Forest Hill station is expected to be very busy with a queuing system in place. -
The ELL has been closed at weekends or at least on Sundays for work to allow five carriage trains to run on the core section of the line from December.

Depending on which part of Wood Vale you live on and the mobile network you use, mobile reception can be patchy. However, it's a nice road and so close to many amenities which your family will enjoy. As for a gym, the closest to Wood Vale is Energie on London Road, Forest Hill. http://www.energiefitnessclubs.com/foresthill/ Forest Hill Pools on Dartmouth Road has a gym also. Dulwich Leisure Centre is around a 10 min drive also.

So that's why there's temp traffic lights between Goodrich Road and Etherow Street. Caught me out when I waited for a 12 this evening.

Incident at East Dulwich Station yesterday

As part of the new TSGN rail franchise, which will include Southern from 2015, East Dulwich will be getting ticket barriers. James Barber, I'd suggest contacting the new franchise operator Govia Thameslink Ltd who can give you more information. -
Water was back on at 2.30.
-
Contactless will be accepted on TfL rail services (London Overground, Tube, DLR and Tramlink) from September 16th. Apparently it should also be accepted on National Rail services (Southern/Southeastern) but can't find confirmation of this.

The water is still off.

It also affected parts of the Lordship Lane Estate. Residents were sent text messages by the council. The water was back on at 2pm.

Southern tickets will be valid on London Overground to Canada Water and the Jubilee line to London Bridge during this time. -
FH has already lost the snooker club to one of these churches.

As I live near the Deeper Life Bible Church, I can tell you what would happen if KICC open up as a church using them as an example. Traffic jams along LL as churchgoers attempt to turn right into the car park at 10.30am with others using side streets such as Underhill Road, Melford Road and Wood Vale to park when the church is full. The two bus stops nearest the church are full after the service ends. These type of churches attract a huge congregation. There are churches in North/East London which can take up to 1,000 people. Considering The Capitol also faces residential housing, noise pollution may also be an issue, in particular during evening services.

Agreed, I think weekends are closer to a tenner as the demand is higher Fri-Mon than midweek.

This is really bad news for Forest Hill. They're losing a cheap pub for a church which is very likely to cause traffic problems as is the case with the Deeper Life Bible Church when they have services on a Sunday from people who don't live in the local area. They're also losing the well established M&Co clothes store opposite the Capitol which is set to become a Morrisons Local, another business which isn't needed considering the amount of small grocers, plus Sainsburys and Tesco nearby. A cinema would have been the icing on the cake for FH's regeneration project (SEE3), which has seen local businesses open in empty shops on London Road and Dartmouth Road.

The only problem I have at the Plex is they don't raise the lights in the screens, which makes it very dark and dingy as you go and find a seat. It also has a 90s feel about it, but I suppose that's part of it's niche I suppose?

Gove was a disaster at the DoE. However the big scandal is that IDS and Esther McVey are still at the DWP.

What is happening with the historic Grove Tavern?
Bic Basher replied to Martin W.'s topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Personally I think Wetherspoons could be a good candidate for the Grove. As it's situated just off the South Circular, it could attract travelling customers who also want some reasonably priced grub. A Wetherspoons restaurant with the same price pub grub could just work for that part of SE22. -

Peckham Plex is independently owned. Their business model appears to be to heavily subsidise the movie tickets on the premise that moviegoers will purchase the overpriced food which is conveniently sold from the popcorn area since they got rid of the box office. The Plex is the cheapest cinema in London, if not across the majority of the UK. Your average local Odeon will charge nearly ?10 for a standard seat in the cinema and still expect you to buy the overpriced food and drink. Picturehouse on the other hand is the artier chain of Cineworld Cinemas, who target middle income earners in affluent/gentrified urban areas to which it wouldn't be suitable to use the Cineworld brand which are multiplexes in nature.
