  1. The Tories last hope of any seats in Southwark is Village Ward, which still hasn't declared. Considering Grange has had to recount, I won't be surprised if it swings to Labour.
  2. Labour hold Peckham Rye. More significant is Labour have won Rotherhithe from the Lib Dems. This will be a massive blow to Simon Hughes who could lose his seat at the general election.
  3. Labour hold South Camberwell. Not surprised Labour have won College as they campaigned hard to win the third seat.

The branding like Picturehouse works so well that people believe it's an independent.
  5. Labour were blitzing the Lordship Lane Estate all day today. Even had a knock at 9pm with six volunteers checking people who hadn't voted. I voted this afternoon, but this wasn't passed on to the volunteers.
  6. As a council resident (not the tenant), who's had to complain on numerous occasions to the housing manager and the anti-social behavioural team, it's a very slow and drawn out process. Do you have a tenants association on your estate? It may be worth speaking to them as well, although I've found the one on here is a bit of a clique. You may also have a Leaseholders group who have additional meetings to discuss such issues as yours.
  7. Surprising considering Roche only had a refit a couple of years ago.

Great to hear, I have a French speaking mother who'll love that. I take it that if I want to see a mainstream film, I'll have to continue to go to the Peckham Plex or one of the chain cinemas? (Odeon/Vue)

  10. I had my first portable tv from Segars. It was the place which introduced me to electronic goods as a child. Also bought portable radios from there. Roche appears to be the victim of the gentrification which is spreading further down LL.
  11. Roche had the place refurbished a couple of years ago, which may have caused issues with cash flow. He's also had increased competition from further down LL from the barbers opposite the old police station and Jazz Barbers. Incidentally it appears that Badger Bakery, which is managed by Hirst Bakery has it's lease up as well.
  12. GK Barbers on Melbourne Grove will do a dry cut for ?10, which is ?2 cheaper than Roche. http://gkbarbers.co.uk/
  13. I don't know any other unisex hairdressers round here. I'll probably go back to Jazz Barbers or the little barbers opposite Sainsbury's in Forest Hill who'll do a dry cut for ?9.
  14. I don't know much about the Picturehouse cinemas, but I hope you'll have some World Cinema films, will save me having to visit Curzon.
  15. I didn't realise Roche was closing, they were busy on Saturday. Mr Roche especially was great for barber banter.
  16. Any shop that goes out of their way to sell baguettes and authentic French pastries will go down well with me.
  17. All change at 306. Dr Dewji appears to have retired as I haven't seen him since the end of last year and is no longer listed as a doctor on their website. The surgery is now managed by Dr Chowdhury with Dr Mujic (female) as her locum.

The 343 is losing one morning peak journey to City Hall. The addition of the 136 will give an extra six buses per hour on top of the 343.
  19. Camberwell Green is popular thanks to the two bus garages near the green which serve the Go-Ahead and Abellio companies. The 176 uses Camberwell Road for driver changeover, so the drivers who are based at Arriva's Norwood garage can hop on the 68 or 468 back to base.
  20. It happened on the 185 tonight coming back from Pimlico this evening. I saw the first 185 rammed to the rafters and got on the second bus, which I wondered why 15-20 people started getting on my bus at every stop along Camberwell New Road as the front bus terminated at Camberwell Green.
  21. HOP/FH only has 8 trains per hour on the Overground because it has two branches, one to Crystal Palace and the other to West Croydon. While people lament the reduction in Southern services to 4 trains per hour, except the morning peak where 6 still operate, the peak trains are at least 8 to 10 carriages long on that line. ED/PR passengers still only have 8 carriages in the peak. FH/HOP combined with the Overground has a tube style frequency of 12 trains per hour, in comparison to the 4tph from ED to London Bridge and the 4tph on the Overground's SLL from DH/PR. (DH also has 2tph to Victoria except late evenings and 2tph to the Thameslink core).
  22. It will do from Saturday, following the 343 route between Peckham and the Elephant providing much required extra capacity.
  23. As fizzmoll says, it was 2 seconds. So quick that some of the appliances didn't go off.
  24. Another power surge has just happened, it's knocked out the street lighting on LL at the Grove end, although Dulwich Common still has lighting.
  25. Morrisons in Peckham also sells them, cheaper wired ones than the wireless kind. Sainsburys DKH also sell a range from cheap corded to branded wireless.
