  1. Do we have any of the K2 boxes remaining in ED? The only ones I can think of is the phone box on the corner of Sydenham Hill and London Road by Horniman Park and in Dulwich Village.
  2. Has anyone had someone claiming to be from the Air Ambulance knocking on their door offering raffle tickets? This happened on the Lordship Lane Estate this morning. He did show photo ID which showed him to be a 'Lottery Canvesser'
  3. The best bet of getting a seat in the morning peak is to use Route 40 if going towards Denmark Hill or Route 12 towards Peckham which both start from Dulwich Library.

Dulwich Village PO was supposed to be moving into Shepherd's, but that fell through, so will continue to run from their current premises for now.
  5. The Gardens catchment area has shrunk. You used to be able to register along one side of LL (I'm on the wrong side) but has now shrunk to a much smaller area around the surgery. http://www.thegardenssurgery.co.uk/register-with-the-practice.html
  6. I tried to watch, but the film look and the trendies sitting on stools chatting tripe made it hard viewing. However, Misfits was repeated which was good to see again.
  7. Just had a look at the early morning revised services. None affect ED/PR towards London Bridge.
  8. College Ward Cllr Helen Hayes has been selected as Labour's Prospective Parlimentary Candidate for Dulwich and West Norwood, replacing Tessa Jowell who is retiring at the next election. This will see two current Southwark Cllr's standing for parliament at the next general election as The Lane ward Cllr Rowenna Davis is the PPC for Southampton Itchen for Labour.
  9. There is a 78 bus taped off outside the station on Rye Lane when I was in Peckham at 3pm.
  10. My mother's French speaking as my Grandmother on her side is French. There are numerous French people in this part of London who have lived her for years. Maybe not as vocal as the Poles, but they're here.

It's also worth nothing that the cross platform footbridge will be shortened again with access between 1-10. For 11, 14 and 15, you'll need to walk up to the gateline and back along 8 or 9-10 to access it.
  12. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If National Rail is correct there aren't ANY > direct trains to ED. That's correct, as they're only operating out of four platforms for the rest of the day, the ED/PR trains are only operating to/from South Bermondsey. Bar one train (1736 to West Croydon) you can travel to HOP and Forest Hill from London Bridge as normal during the evening peak or as I mentioned above, tickets are valid on the tube and Overground.
  13. Just checked my DAB radio. Rescanned and have 64 stations including 6 Music, LBC and er...BBC Surrey!
  14. Trains are starting to and from South Bermondsey as of 10am. Tickets are valid on the Jubilee line to Canada Water and the on the Overground to PR, or on Bus 381 to South Bermondsey.
  15. I hated the bendy buses, they were nothing more than cattle trucks, crime hotspots and a fare fiddlers paradise. The new buses which I've rode a few times now, I'm still undecided. Like the fact they have a conductor type person on board during the day, but not at weekends and the temperature control is a bit on and off.
  16. Have you ever done anything with the local kids on the Lordship Lane Estate? It's right across the road from your club, but feels like a different area completely. I know Southwark Youth Service have done sporting activities by getting Millwall FC coaches in the summer, but it may be an opportunity for some of Dulwich's poorest kids into a sport they'd never think of participating in, which would benefit the whole community who are on your doorstep. If you contact the Lordship Lane Estate housing manager Samantha Ranasinghe (her number is on the information boards scattered along the Estate) she should be able to put you in contact with the Estate's Tenants and Residents Association.
  17. Most surgeries will send a text message reminder at least two days before the appointment. Speaking from my experience as I'm not a patient at DMC, doctors can request the patient is booked for at least a double appointment (back to back) if it requires more than the allocated 10 minute window to assess the patient.
  18. I was at 306 this morning and I've never seen it so busy. I was seen 30 mins after my booked time and were fully booked until next Monday. I have a feeling some ex DMC patients are now there too.

I suppose TFL consider the system > as it is a good earner. Oyster works differently on the bus by operating a fixed fare system for pay as you go users. To ask passengers to touch out on a bus would slow down the exiting of passengers and overall make journeys slower as a consequence.
  20. Axe the 40 and passengers from between Dulwich Library and Denmark Hill simply won't be able to board a bus in the peaks. The whole reason for the route in this area is to relieve the already crowded 176 and 185. Regarding Walworth Road's supposed over bussed capacity. If we had an alternative, such as the Bakerloo line extension, then we can talk about cutting the frequency of buses or routes altogether. The current capacity between Camberwell and Elephant is required. I'm not happy about the move of the 12/40/176 bus stop to Walworth Road. It'll mean more passengers either using London Road or Newington Causeway.
  21. I was in Sainsbury's at around the time the OP and was no busy than usual for a Saturday afternoon. I'd suggest parking near the recycling bins where it's quieter.
  22. In addition to increased buses, later in the year we'll be getting longer single decker buses. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/29763.aspx
  23. The timetable has been published. What hasn't changed is the final bus from Streatham to New Cross leaves at the still too early time of 11.05pm. http://londonbusroutes.net/times/P13new.pdf
  24. College Ward Conservatives have also campaigned for an increase in buses on this route also.

The X68 from Waterloo > to Croydon (?) runs at peak times; would a 176 or > 12 with similar restrictions help? The X68 operates from West Croydon to Russell Square in the morning with an express section from West Norwood to Waterloo and in the opposite direction in the evening peak. It's designed so that passengers who live in on the 468 section of the route don't all cram on the 68 which gives that route capacity. An X176 could work in a similar fashion. Serve all stops from Tottenham Court Road to Elephant & Castle and then run fast to East Dulwich station, terminating at Forest Hill. This would help solve the capacity problems on the 176 in the peaks which would give more seats on the main 176 for passengers travelling between Penge and the Elephant.
