Lost Cat Found: Audrey came home - thanks all!

Has anyone seen out cat, Audrey?


She goes out everyday, but normally doesn't go far from home and never misses a meal. We haven't seen her since the morning of 11/7/7 and we're getting worried. She tends to stick to the Crystal Palace Road / Landells Road / Goodrich Road area. She's half Siamese, so very small and slight, but jet black all over with green eyes (picture below). She wears a red collar with her name and our phone number on. She's very curious and playful and sometimes finds her way into other peoples' houses.


Please look out for her and ring us if you see her.

PS: I know Anna has put this thread up somewhere else but the more people who see it, the better. Hope that isn't breaking EDF rules.

There was a cat lurking at the top of CPR the other day, near the caff, corner of LL. It looked like the photo but I'm sure didn't have a collar. Just before you get to the caff there is a "track" on the left leading down to the back of the houses, it was meandering down there...

hey guys (I use to work with both of you!!) I saw an Audrey like cat outside mine on Friern road an hr ago (but again without a collar - and have seen the same cat here before though), just looked outside and couldn't see it (did make daft noises to try and attract it too!) will keep my eyes peeled xx

Cheers Jim - unfortunately, there are quite a few black cats around this neck of the woods (we've got one more and our neighbours have 2 big black furry cats!) but Audrey is easily spotted by the fact that she is absolutely tiny, almost kitten sized. Thanks for keeping eyes peeled everyone. been a couple of days now so starting to get worrying...

Just to say thanks to everyone who kept their eyes open for our moggy - just when we'd started to accept the worst, she strolled in through the cat flap looking very pleased with herself and her 3 days of adventuring in ED... but then, of course, she is a fairly recent "incomer" so needs to explore ;-)

Animals can have no rights - with rights come responsbilities and I have yet to meet an animal that is able to understand or debate this concept. I'm kind to animals but would not keep a pet as it's not right, in my mind, to coop up dogs / cats in London (tho' I harbour murderous thoughts about the cat that uses my garden as a latrine. However, I'm not willing to forego a nice lamb shank, slow cooked belly of pork or aged steak cooked rare.

I can't speak for dogs, as I don't have one but as for keeping cats cooped up my cat is free to go wherever she likes and its her choice to stay in her own garden, she is a very happy cat - even though she lives in London (It's difficult to kep cats cooped up anyway - they will do their own thing!). And she fulfils her responsibilities, (despite, like many humans, not being able to debate the concept,) as a pet very well - she is cute, furry, funny and friendly - what more could be asked!

MM - We got Audrey & Clark from a shelter where they'd been handed in by previous owners who got divorced. They were living in a box a foot or 2 in each direction. During the hours of daylight they are now free to go wherever they want, which doesn't usually involve leaving a one-block-radius, and normally spend most of the days when I'm off sitting on the window ledge of my study. We are a bit possessive about keeping them in at night because the foxes round here are massive and bold as brass and our cats are tiny but think they're invincible - a recipe for their messy death (cats, not foxes...)


I am also verging on being a puritan carnivore. I think these 2 lifestyle choices are ok to combine.


We do realise that having pets is a fundementally selfish act because it's about how nice it is for the owner to have the pet, but ours don't appear to be too tortured.


Anyway, this thread was first a missing report, then a thank you. Sorry it's caused a stir.

Not a stir - I just like to tease vegans! Probaly counts as a blood sport.

No she doesn't earn enough to pay taxes and is too precious to put her bottom in anyone else's garden - insists on her own litter tray - more's the pity

      yes that's the one!  it was (nearly) harmless fun to get the un-initiated to put the coin in for you i also seem to remember that the Hanway Street place was called Govinda's.  it was vegetarian, vegan even - but it was much more palatable fare than the standard Hare Krishna stuff.  I also used to go tot he Indian Y - which I remmber discussing on the EDF some eyars ago.  And then the first Wagamama opened off Russell Street

      Off topic (ish) but does anyone else remember when Blue Mountain opened? They had chocolate coated coffee beans and a range of coffee beans sold loose, and I can't remember whether it was freshly baked  bread or rolls or croissants or  something else, but my then partner used to go and buy it/them in the morning. And behind the part with the counter, it was divided into several little rooms, all different colours and styles. There was another room upstairs, though I can't remember if that was open from the beginning  It was great. It went through many incarnations after that, before eventually sadly closing, but I liked the first one best. Also off topic (ish) there was a Greek? Turkish? deli opposite. My then partner bought some yoghurt there once, and when he got it home he found it was months (I think) past its sell by date. He took it back. The guy in the shop opened it up, looked at it, sniffed it and said "There's nothing wrong with that." 😂

      However, some would particularly like to avoid reviews of the 'there are far too many mice'; 'the cakes are deteriorating badly' nature. If you consider that a 'Negative Nelly' response. My experience was that the hot drinks and the varieties of e.g. teas on offer, were generally a positive element. As were the staff serving.
