This has been the fourth time we have asked Aston to help us out and that itself is a testament to his reliability, pleasantness and the very high quality of his work. He assembled a large IKEA display cabinet, put up a wall bracket, re-secured a fire alarm to the ceiling and fixed a longstanding problem with a wardrobe door that wouldn?t close properly. When necessary he would consult to ensure things were placed where we wanted them but otherwise he worked quietly and efficiently- getting things done with no fuss at all. Very high quality work at a fair price. We will most definitely be calling in Aston again!

Another recmomendation for Aston. Fixed two door handles on hollow doors, put a bead of silicone around some tiles, repaired a leaking tap, a shower door that was hitting the frame, put a TV and a whiteboard on the wall. Highly efficient, excellent workmanship and a lovely guy. Not the cheapest I suspect but you get what you pay for. Deserves every one of these good reviews

Aston fixed our porch tile today. The replacement tiles that I had bought was slightly different in size to the existing ones but Aston made it work. I am really pleased with the result. We are now asking Aston to fo more work for us.

I would highly recommend Aston, he is reliable, friendly and professional.

We needed to fix lots of old door handles locks and latches that didn?t shut and now all the doors close properly and the handles work really well. He was good at explaining what needed to be done and we were very happy with the work.

Aston has been brilliant for household jobs that are beyond our DIY skills. He is punctual and gets the job done quickly. He is also a very nice bloke. He has just put up double, ceiling mounted, aluminium curtain tracks in our bay window. They had to be bent carefully to fit, and cut with precision. Even though Aston had not worked with this type of curtain track before, he did the job very neatly and professionally in less time than I thought it would take. Our new curtains look fantastic. Thank you forumites for the excellent recommendation. Aston assembled and hung two flat pack kids? bookcases for me, fixed a heavy mirror to the wall and mended some broken drawers which had been nagging at me for ages. He did everything with very good grace and to a high standard. He is also very nice and was kind to my toddlers. Thanks Aston.

Another very happy customer. Aston has just given us a new shed felt roof and completed a small woodwork job. He is great to deal with - good communication, quick quote and booked me in swiftly. He did a lovely job and was very friendly and considerate.

Aston has done a number of indoor jobs for us and done them brilliantly. This time we had a badly leaning garden fence which we needed to get repaired quickly and well to avoid it falling into our neighbors? garden. Aston confirmed that he would be able to do the fence repair and that he is experienced at doing it. His solution was to used a concrete post which is sunk into the ground and attached to the leaning post to straighten and secure it. As usual Aston was punctual, efficient and he is a thoroughly nice and reliable guy. The fence is now straight, stable and very secure. Aston is now firmly our go-to person when we need work done that we simply shouldn?t tackle ourselves.

    • That a shocking story.  Spurs?  You appear to be lost.  Haringey is very much the other side of the river.
    • Every year they ask for more and every year it is an exhausting process pushing back on that for local residents and councillors. What annoys me is that at the post event consultation/ feedback this year, I specifically asked them if the rumours around applying for two weekends next year were true. They told me no. So that was a lie. Anyway, we go again.

    • Rant ahead: You're not one of them but unfortunately, there's a substrate of posters here that do very little except moan and come up with weird conspiracy theories. They're immediately highly critical of just about any change, and their initial assumption is that everyone else is a total fucking contemptible idiot. For example: don't you think that the people who run the libraries will have considered the impact of timing of reconstruction on library users? (In fact, we know they have - because they've made arrangements at other libraries to attempt to mitigate the disruption). After all, these are the people that spend their whole working week thinking about libraries and dealing with library users (and the kids especially). You don't go into the library game for the chicks and fame - so it's fair to assume that librarians are committed to public service and public access to libraries, including by kids. Likewise the built environment people (engineers, architects, construction managers, project managers, construction contractors, subcontractors or whoever is on this job) are told to minimise disruption on every job they do. The thing that occurs to us as amateurs within 30 seconds of us seeing something is probably not something a full time professional hasn't thought about! Southwark Council, the NHS, TfL, Dulwich Estate, Thames Water, Openreach - they're not SPECTRE factories filled with malevolent chaosmongers trying to persecute anyone. They're mostly filled with people who understand their job and try to do their best with what they've been given - just like all of us. Nobody is perfect or immune from challenge, and that's fair enough, but why not at least start from the assumption that there's a good reason why things have been done the way they have? Any normal person would be pleased that their busy, pretty, lively local library is getting refurbished, and will have more space and facilities for kids and teens, and will be more efficient to run and warmer in winter. But no, EDT_Forumite_752 had kids who did an exam 20 years ago, and this makes them an expert on library refurbishment who can see it's all just stuff and nonsense for the green agenda and why can't it all be put off... 😡😡😡
