England should cruise past Algeria. If they don't, then **** em.

That's basically how I feel. This bunch of England players are hard to get behind and feel affection for, as we have with previous teams. Bunch of spoilt boys who believe their own hype.

I want them to kick on and win, but frankly, if they don't get out of the group, I'll not shed tears, hopefully it'll give a few of them a bit of a reality check.

Beckham was treated VERY badly after France '98, but in the long run, I think it actually did him good, and made him more respectful. Lets all hang some effigies of Rooney, Gerrard, Terry, and Lampard outside a few pubs!

Ummm....No. I can't see it. They were more successful when he was at Palace than they've ever been since. Is that so bad? Or are you a Millwall fan?

very early days. I don't think you can tell much from that performance. As all the papers are saying Italy drew 1-1 with the US in WC 2006 group stages. We need to win our next two games to avoid the Germans.

I thought Heskey did quite well. Concern is Carragher, he looked unfit and out of his depth. Should have stuck to his guns and retired. Algeria and Slovenia looked dreadful in their game.

Do you not think when watching the games that no shots seem to be going on target from range. Most free-kicks have gone well over the ball does seem to slice or balloon very regularly. Maybe i am just looking out for it.

Carragher is too old for this, and is not what he used to be. I used to feel gutted that he couldn't hold down a place in the team, as 4/5 years ago, I thought there was a case for calling him the best centre back we had. Time has caught up with him though, and I don't really feel he should be there.

That said, we don't have a lot of choice anymore.

Thought Heskey done very well. Shame he missed a good chance, but he was not alone in that.

And another snoozer's almost over. Dane's will be kicking themselves, they could have got a draw out of this one, the Dutch need to buck their ideas up if they're too challenge. There was an England like ennui about that performance.

ps wot Keef said about this crop of England players. I actually thought the last World Cup WAS their wake-up call, but that proved not to be.

Brasil tonight isn't it?

Carragher should only play at centre back. He has no pace or the abilty to deal with quick wingers or forwards at this stage of his career.

He's a die hard kind of character, but I agree, his best days are behind him. Also the same for Rio and King. The end of the road for many of these England players. Bring on the U21's and Stuart Pearce. :-S

Yeah Carragher, definitely off the pace and I question the commitment of any player that previously didn't want to play for England. Scholes has never changed his mind for example. Everyone knew King wouldn't last - he's been like that all season - why on earth we took him is beyond me.

Holland never live up to expectations - a bit like England in that respect. But the dutch keeper spilled the ball a bit like Green did at one point (wasn't totally behind the ball). I wonder if that ball does zip off as it slows in the air? Just struck me as odd because both were straight shots from distance giving the keepers plenty of time to set themselves.

Here come Japan and Cameroon .......

Scholes: - "If they'd asked me earlier, I probably would have accepted." - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8726935.stm

I respect Carraghers decision to quit international football. He was always been overlooked for England, especially when Terry and Rio were out, the managers replacement was always Woodgate and King who were always injured. Carragher, thought best to concentrate on his Club career and avoid the possibilty of getting injured as squad player. i.e Dean Ashton, career ended while on training for Englnad.

Carra also said, that he wouldn't rule out a return if England were desperate and short of players.

I've not got a problem with Carragher wanting to play for his country but I just don't think he can be left exposed at the back with his chronic lack of mobility. The only way England are going to win World Cup is by playing very defensively, having everyone behind ball and using pace and break out skills of Rooney and Lennon.

    • You'd need to get a proper quote (or three) for instance removing a cast iron bath is a very different job from removing an acrylic one. Again what pipe work will be being joined into - matching old imperial pipes with modern metric ones is different from like to like, as is dealing with a copper or an iron distribution system. The amount (area) of retiling required is an issue, as will be the state of the wall behind the tiles. It may of course all be very plain sailing, or not. Have a first look at plumber recommendations on the relevant pages on this site. If it's all easy then 3 days work may be sufficient. But it could be a week if there are snags.
    • Hi. Can anyone suggest a plumber for the job below? Replace bath tub with a shower enclosure, putting pipes to showerhead behind wall, re-titling damaged/removed tiles Also any idea of the costs involved for the labour as we will buy the items required?
    • Aria came round to fix my tub drain when I'd messed up the seal. Came within hours, fixed the tub, and ran a bath to make sure it was okay. Here's where the fun starts. While he was over, I asked him questions about the rest of the plumbing round the house. I had just moved into a Victorian home that was previously being rented. Unsurprisingly, we found another leak in the tub and a drip in the kitchen tap.  He came back the next day to put a better pipe in my bathtub and replace the kitchen sink. Painstakingly figured out how to replace the hard-to-access kitchen sink without cutting through the wood panel with the help of his builder friend, Mark. Answered all my questions and clearly knew his stuff. All this right before Christmas holidays!
