I just wondered if this wonderful local forum was independent of any political affiliations. I think the BBC has a policy that it must stay impartial or not comment either way so i wondered if this local site was the same. I noticed that only one candidate remains in this section and some other parties representatives are moved into different areas within the site. I just was musing as everything seems to be about politics and fairness right now. I suppose though it's a private site and whoever set it up can support whoever they like ? is there any truth to the rumours that it is run by a local party though ? hopefully not, it's independence is important I think.

.....moderator level are divergent ? sorry to be a bit......thick ??? not sure what that means. Anyway i noticed that the labour councillor offering help with the local ward got moved into another area, and the other local councillor Mr Barber I think conservative or Green is in the main area. Just wondered after watching the TV debate last night about independence , i read they had 900 rules on that program last night !

Divergent mainly means they don't agree with each other. There's no bias.

The local councillor is a public service, but every time the poor fellow gets political he gets bodged into the Drawing Room..

He does clearly have an advantge from being the incumbent, but that's a default position from providing local services. It's a double edged sword, because he also gets to carry the disappointment.

I don't think it's necessary to challenge the situation, because I think it's being run well.

Which rumours? Weird if they're there. Genuinely think the admin here is firm (occasionally over zealous but hey) but absolutely fair.

This should really be in the About the forum section but I will leave it here for now to help clarify the issue.

This forum has no political affiliations.

In regards to the posts you mention jenny1840, as people have said there's a difference between the councillor helping people: "East Dulwich councillor - can I help?" and candidates promoting themselves eg "Jonathan Mitchell - candidate for MP in East Dulwich" and "Labour candidates in East Dulwich". I am interested to know where you heard the rumours about out the forum being connected to a political party.

ps ruffers, I agree with you about being over zealous.

My only political affiliation is towards the care of the daff's! Maybe we should setup an ED movement for the care of daffodils locally. Those pesky middle class brats picking them will need to watch their frail backs then with the prospect of a pro-daff candidate polling at least 0.0014%!

Alternatively, you can sit on Goose Green and watch various patches of grass grow in the late evening sunlight! :D

    • If you read the article posted above, it is all very carefully worded. However I've found this: https://uknip.co.uk/news/uk/uk-news/peckham-rye-park-attack-man-seriously-injured-august-2025/
    • Angela Rayner had this country at her feet but as soon as I saw that photo of her lounging about in the kayak off her new seaside home, vaping and drinking!
    • This is horrible to hear about. We used to get daily Police patrols on foot & even regular patrols on horseback in the area. I know our local station had some bad eggs, but the officers I came across in the area back then were all a fantastic bunch. Sadly nowadays the Met's presence is non-existent, bar the weekly walk from the SNT. I hope something gets done, arrests made and the victim some genuine support and counselling.
    • Two wrongs don't make a right. Labour ran on a manifesto of "we aren't like them" and "we are different" and"you can trust us/we will restore faith in politics". They are doing nothing to convince anyone that any of those promises are being met - they are letting everyone down. u-turning on everything and are fast-tracking the doomsday scenario of a Reform government. Even the runway on the "it's all the Tories fault" is running out. I dislike politicians because they cannot be trusted and Rayner just highlighted that with ribbons on. She should have been so careful after the focus on the electoral roll issues she had with the house in Ashton-under-Lyne and then under a year later this comes up. Clearly the advice she took included a recommendation to take proper advice that she failed to do - that's just daft and the most galling thing is that she didn't just resign when this came up - she tried to spin out of it but must have known she was toast. Trust is fast being eroded. I desperately want Labour and Starmer to fix this because the alternative it too scary to think about but the way things are going they are fast-tracking Farage into No.10. Labour are letting us all down.
