By the way LadyMuck it is our Cup - we actually got to keep it after winning it 5 times, the one the Red&Whites are holding was a new one melted down from some old lead piping beneath a Manchester sewage plant (hence why it takes both Rio and Giggs to hold it) ;-)

Back to topic, I assume he didn't mean football.

I consider myself Socialist side of left, so feel very let down by all parties.

A very nice leaflet was pushed through my door yesterday featuring a 20 yr old student who is running for the Workers Socialist Party. I was very tempted to consider until I read through and was appalled at the atrocious spelling and several contradictions within the leaflet. Now I'm stuffed!

Oh very funny Matthew!!!!!!:))

*snivels*

But Mr. Pallywotsitoos Sir, the Football Focus thread got too aggressive...open Man. U Fans were mercilessly bullied and therefore the remainder of Man. U fans were closeted...add to that the fact that the majority of posters did not appreciate repeat postings of George Best...I got scared, so I ran away...boo hoo

I also have not seen any Tory window stickers round here, or had anyone from their party round here. Or LibDems either. Labour lot came round and I asked them a heap of questions of things that concern me (free prescriptions - GBrown had said he would!) and they said all the 'right' things. Oh Christ I have no choice.

Tough. Stop following soccer-ball and do something more productive with your time.

Mr. Pallywotsitoos Sir, what could be more productive than following and supporting the most successful football team on the planet pray tell?

Moreover, and with the greatest of respect Oh Chief Bhuna of Poppadoms, this thread is entitled "Are there any reds out there...". This in itself does not preclude the citation of football teams provided they are "red" of course and therefore I am well within my rights to act as I have. However, as I do not wish to cause our esteemed Chief Naan Bread Bhuna undue grief, I shall instead

. Please feel free to join in at any time.

Despite Brown looking haggard and tired I thought that his performance today was good. He looked a bit ragged as though he had his heart, soul and sleep into this final push.

How do people rank the various leaders in tonight's debate?

I rank them:

Brown: 9/10

Clegg: 8/10

Cameron: 6/10

Not sure how many of you would agree.

There's another thread for the performance of the 'leaders'.

Jenny Jones: HA, if she came a-knocking on my door she'd have a shock.

She fought long and hard against the idea that motorcyclists should be allowed to ride in the TfL bus lanes.

Boris had said he would do this, as part of his manifesto, and by heck he actually did it! And there has been no carnage. When J Jones was banging on about why not, I emailed her and asked her what her problem was, she replied (and I kept the email): "bikers are scary for us". Very scientific reason there, then.

I think I have to vote Labour, even though i hate their biometric ID card thing.

They're more right wing in some ways than Cameron who has said he'd get rid of the idea (for now!) of biometric ID cards.

Ho hum. I need to change my doorbell sound to that of a Ducati Monster with bad exhaust pipes starting up. That'll scare those Greens off.

I think it might take a bit more than that; Caroline Lucas and Jenny Jones strike me as two pretty strong-minded and determined women...

I watched it on tape after the football, and I scored it as: -

Brown: 5/10

Clegg: 3/10

Cameron: 7/10

    • I am always really surprised by the glowing reviews of Franklins. Not sure whether it was once very good, and so it is just somewhere that is now remembered as that and thought of fondly by those who have known it since its opening all those years ago? As someone who has lived in the area for a few years now, and having tried it a few times (mostly as a result of the positive reviews), I have always been pretty disappointed. The food has always been average for the price point, and last time we visited we waited about 40 minutes to place an order. Hopefully whoever buys it can make improvements - it would be great to have a reliable pub on the lane that serves good food (similar to the Kerfield or Camberwell Arms, etc.)!
    • I will buy you a frothy coffee from anywhere you like on Lordship Lane if that happens. Most of these costs never get recovered from the drivers that caused them. The photo shows a car that's been left on the zigzags protecting the crossing. Pedestrians crossing East to West and drivers heading South won't see each other until the pedestrians are in the road. That is a dangerous position to leave a car in. (I don't know if it's stil there, obviously).
    • Seems a pretty dangerous position to me - apart from getting in the way of pedestrians trying to cross the road large vehicles heading south have to edge into the oncoming traffic lane to get past. I've got a normal-sized car and had to squeeze through a gap the other day.
    • When a car is left damaged by the road-side it may be that the insurer is tasked with recovering the vehicle to assess it and (possibly) take it for repair. Only if it is in a dangerous position will the police recover it - which saves money for the tax-payer.  You may also have some recovery options with e.g. the AA (other organisations are available). Were the car to have been stolen or abandoned then it will take some time to sort this out, and again unless the vehicle is in a dangerous position the police won't be rushing to deal with that. Not sure who the 'they' are in this case.
