Can't believe after 90 minutes of football Liverpool were looking sorted, and by the final whistles we are behind Man U and only a point in front of Chelsea. Funny old game and all that. Just hope Liverpool keep up the pace and make a good 3 way competition of it. As LadyG pointed out, last February Arsenal looked like they couldn't not win the league...

Phil Thompson's reaction on Soccer Saturday to Lampard's winner was great entertainment, Thommo was rocking back in his chair screaming, "GOOOOALLLLLL, GOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!"

I watched most of the United game live on the web (via TVU Player), and to be fair teams who drive forward looking for goals deserve to get late winners more than teams who keep a defensive formation against sh!te teams for 90 minutes...

If Liverpool want to take charge of the title race they need to cut loose - that means 1) playing 4-4-2, with 2) Gerrard in central midfield and 3) Daniel Agger at centre half - and most importantly 4) priortise the scoring of goals over clean sheets.

Matthew 123 - could not agree more - think i said something similar before too = MU play to win and they get their just rewards. Liverpool I'm afraid may throw away their best chance to win the EPL unless they become more direct, especially at home.

hope liverpool can make a move on Monday night as now MU have headed them at the top, Liverpool really need to bounce back.

I went to the Vale to watch the Arsenal match -lovely comfy sofas, draught stella and warm fire - what more could a woman ask for! Incidentally they had shown the Bolton v Man U match live - shall have to keep an eye out to see what other sat 3pm games they will be showing.

I was praying he might keel over but no luck.

Pompey played their socks off and only luck stopped this being another 4-1 against a Judas side bound for relegation. I agree with Jah that Spurs were appauling. Definitely another team to be taken down by Redknapp.

PUP! ;)

West Ham 8th and Spurs 16th and this is the most miserable day ever! hmmm looks pretty good to me

According to experts today is the most depressing day of the year, or as the pessimists at the Daily Mail put it: "The most depressing day in HISTORY".

Toay is apparently so depressing it has been predicated that up to a quarter of workers would call in sick.

Cliff Arnall, a former psychology academic at Cardiff University, claims that there are six factors that combine to make today the ultimate of all bad days:

Lousy weather

Post-Christmas debt

Failed New Year's resolutions

Time elapsed since Christmas festivities

Motivation levels

The need for something to look forward to

My mum could have scored with that header that Bent missed in the final minutes and she's been dead for 15 years.

The only plusses in the game for us was our improvement in the second half and Defoe's fabulous equalising finish. We ain't going down. No way.

    • Pretentious status vehicles.  Last year I was trying to drive down my own street but, being in a little, inferior car, was expected to make way for a stream of SUVs / Chelsea tractors as they barged along beside me. After what felt like an age, I saw a window of opportunity, but was beaten to it by yet another tank. By this stage I was irate (I hate the things) and having a full on shouting match with myself behind the wheel.  A Tesla in the oncoming queue pulled in, flashed and courteously allowed me to take my moment. The Tesla's windows were tinted, but not so much that I wasn't able to make out the driver, as I passed him. I'd recognise that mega-watt smile anywhere. It was Peter Crouch, laughing and giving me the thumbs up, clearly entertained by my tantrum.
    • I recently had a utility room built, next to the kitchen. Dean Richards and his team carried out the works, they did a fantastic job. Thorough, with attention to every detail.  If you are considering an extension, refurbishment or renovation, Dean comes highly recommended.  Dean Richards  07888 651798
