Fitzgeraldo
What is happening? Does anyone know of plans for this restaurant? I love the tired old menu and the lazy waiters. I shall miss the place if the rumour is true. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/125085-le-chardon-changing-handsbeing-sold/ Share on other sites

Penguin68
I think Spinach is replacing Le Chandelier - which I assume can now be mentioned on the forum! Sue
Well if it is changing, I really hope it will be improved.Admittedly this opinion is based on only eating there once in about a decade, but the meal was mediocre to say the least.Which was a shame, because I like the decor. Earl Aelfheah
The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly good either. It was average, at slightly higher than average prices. Jah Lush
I think the name of this thread should be changed to reflect that its Le Chandelier that is changing hands and not Le Chardon just to avoid further confusion. Mick Mac
I have always liked Le Chardon. Maybe i've been lucky but its generally been good when I have been there. I know others have not been so lucky. Jeremy
Le Chardon... eaten there three times I think. It's been a bit of a mixed bag... lovely food one time, a tough-as-leather steak another time, and a completely uninterested waitress another time (some people strangely find this endearingly "authentic" in a French restaurant, a clich? which IMO doesn't ring true). But hope it stays, and that there's no substance in these rumours. I love the interior, I love hearty French bistro food... they just need to iron out some creases. It's part of the furniture on LL, it should be a local institution like Franklins. Mick Mac
When I came to East Dulwich, Franklins, Tandoori Nights and Le Chardon were pretty much the only places we ate in. I'd like to use it more often but there are a lot of other options now.
