Next Forum Drinks - Friday 1st October at The Actress

Weegee - you'll be referring to the building currently housing Casa Smerelda approaching Nunhead.

It's also been known as:

The Village Inn

but on the night we went, and I agree the food was amazing for a short period, it was known as The Duke.

I think it was once something else too but before my time in the area. Beautiful old building - shit location.

Aaaaaanyway.....yep, I'm up for one last hurrah. I've been to a few forum drinks over the years but not for a while so this sounds a top idea.

How about the all new Canning? I'm sure they'd appreciate the business.

Oooooh. A crawl!

Phoenix, George Canning, Fox on the Hill, Oriwu Spot, EDT.

Strictly speaking the Vale sits between the last two, but you know, NTV!!!

Could I tentatively suggest an alternative date?...

Ignore this is everyone else is happy with the 12th, but could I also put forward the 26th November?

(As I have only been to one - please don't let me sway it if everyoen else prefers the 12th)

VBC ? sorry but from posts to date the 12th it is (subject to conf)

If that date has to change again that?s fine but I won?t be able to attend so someone else will need to take over planning

I?ve spoken to the Phoenix and they can give me the mezzanie but I need to have plenty of people there from 6:30 ? at this time of the year I can?t book from say 7:30 or 8 o clock

So can I ask people likely to attend to say yes they can make it for that time? If not I?ll have to get back to them and rethink venue/dates

Cheers

That's a shame as we have the very excellent - and local! - duo Jen Doyle and Joe Fowler on Upstairs at the Mag that night, so we won't be able to come. And nor will anybody going to the Phoenix!

They went down a storm at the fair on Goose Green which was part of the Dulwich Festival earlier in the year.

Hey,

no worries. It is a shame, but I will be dousing myself in Polish beer and vodka to ease the pain. :)-D

As long as you all get drunk enough for me and then post some cracking photos of the nights events then I am happy :))

I'm aiming for 15 - a few either way and we should still be ok, but the more the merrier

We are limited to 40 tho so if the majority are thinking of turning up later we could struggle. On a good drinks night we see 20-30 people, on a few occassions more than that and for Georgia's last hurrah I'm expecting at least 30

I'll go with whatever, but I'm not sure about the choice of venue.

What about Hoopers...

Or, wht about a pub IN East Dulwich (it being the last one and all). The first ever drinks, attended by about 5 people including Mockney, Huguenot, Me, Mike P, and one or 2 others, was at the Mag(dalla), so it may be fitting to finish them at the Mag(nolia).

    • Just had Hussein and his team redecorate our flat. Did a very good and efficient job and is a nice person to boot!
    • No, you didn’t write the article. But unless you’re a Telegraph subscriber, you haven’t read the article either. Have you read it? The psychopath Telegraph lives behind a (rubber) paywall but using this kind of sensationalist, accusatory headline gets it traction on social media. The headline becomes more important than the article; many will see it and some will take it as a statement of fact. And it will be shown on endless “let’s take a look at the papers” segments on TV and radio for 12 hours or more in every news day. And so, a tiny number of reactionary, right wing hacks has a vastly disproportionate influence on the popular conversation despite the papers they work for being bought by almost nobody these days.
    • Trelco are wonderful. James has been super reliable and they are a gem to have around us locally. Trust them completely, will give honest advice and have very fair pricing for all small work around the house or bigger plumbing projects. I've used them multiple times and they will always find the time to help, even when they are busy they will pop round to make sure we aren't stranded which is a nice touch.
