Hi everyone,

I am trying to decide about whether to buy a Tripp trapp highchair - I'm very interested in buying the newborn set to go with it (baby is due early may). My husband seems to think it will be a waste of money but I wanted to hear if any one recommends them before I buy!

Thank you!

Though you have to watch out they don't push themselves & chair off from the table, thus tipping over backwards - not good!

Also ours drive Mr S mad cos the legs stick out & he still, even after 10 years, trips over them.

Still, 10 years on & they look as good (food particles aside) as the day we got them.

Don't have one but friends and family have them. Yes, they are nice but they all said that for weaning the plastic highchairs with the big trays are actually more practical. My nephew (2 years) definitely prefers his Ikea Antilop highchair (only around ?11).

Just to give a slightly different point of view, but love the design myself...

We have a baby dan high chair which is basically a poor man's tripp trapp - we wanted something that would look nice in our kitchen/dining room and would last for more than a year or two. As we are doing baby-led weaning my son eats directly off the table.

We only said last week how good ours has been (my daughter's 3.5yrs and uses it all the time). In fact she loves it so much so that when we broached the subject of her new baby brother one day using it, she refused point blank and said he'd have to have his own one.

They're not cheap but definitely worth it. And the baby set is brilliant for as soon as they can sit upright.

They now come with extended gliders that you attach to the bottom of the feet which stops this problem. I have a VERY wriggly toddler who does try to tip his back but it has never toppled. I think the extended gliders shift the centre of gravity in such a way that it can't.

I have invested in a harness though after he climbed out onto the table aged nine months. There is a non-removable bar which he uses to push himself up on so the harness has been essential for us. Otherwise we love it!

Now I have to make a point of going there. Does anyone else remember a really affordable basement cafe run by the church in a street off of Golden Square? parallel to Regent Street? I also used to love the Vegetarian cafe on Neal Street in the basement (Neal Street Cafe?) and there was an inczredible inexpensive authentic Japanese resturant I use to go to with my Japanese friends (who introduced me to it) tucked away behind Long Acre where that brown brick modern building ('modern' I think it went up in the 90's!) now stands that fronts Long Acre and Neal Street..I think it was called Asakasa or something?
    • I wonder where he could be deported to, Hungary the obvious candidate in Europe, perhaps he would get on well with Modi?   Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage both said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood should look at whether Abd El Fattah's citizenship could be revoked to enable his swift removal from the UK. Farage said in a letter to Mahmood: "It should go without saying that anyone who possesses racist and anti-British views such as those of [Mr Abd El Fattah] should not be allowed into the UK." So just racists views are ok Nige?
