I thought I was giving a cock handed compliment, even the great slur alex can make a poor signing

Its irrelevant what Fergie has done on signings as he is an unqualified success - his record speaks for itself.

Its only if someone is either a failure (O'Leary) or a qualifed success (Rafa) that you need to look at his sigings and do a cost/benefit comparison.

Fergie stands apart.

Forget about signings being good or bad, its what you do with the players you have available. There is no doubt that when puts his mind to it he can deliver for the big occasion... but he is a loose cannon who I think has engineered his sacking. I don't see Liverpool touching him with a barge poll until he has at least proven he can behave and focus on the team at another Club.. and I dare say try and sustain good football.
BTW Shanks, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish, not to mention Wenger and Mourinho, all won the Title within 2 years of being in top flight. As for Fergie he was runner-up in his first full season in England. Great managers let their greatness be read on the pitch.. whilst others have their mates in the media write it for them :)

Those are two of the most hilarious posts I've seen on this thread. Thank you for heralding the Christmas period with such jollity. :))

Only to see his wife and kids for Christmas. Oh and by the way -

Is this the FF thread equivalent of the Germans and Allies playing football in no-mans-land in the First World War! :)

Your powers of observation are second to none. Who did Celtic get?

How times have changed. Once upon a time Boxing Day meant half the Premiership would kick off at lunchtime such was the number of southern Clubs, now it is just Craven Cottage hoisting the Flag this Xmas. Not sure how so many Clubs from the North West have PL status, but there are 5 PL fixtures in old Lancashire at 3 p.m. this Boxing Day!

    • Dulwich leisure centre? Zumba or Pilates there? I go to Zumba at forest Hill Pools... Pay as you go membership and its very inclusive all ages shapes and sizes. Ditto I find the leisure centre the same..I'm mid 60's by the way. I prefer gyms to schools..the rooms they do the classes in are custom built.
    • Well, this is sad news.  Hopefully it won't go down the same path as The Palmerston when it changed hands.  That is from great to dismal, literally overnight.
    • And no queues at 1130 yesterday. Maybe everyone's had enough and switched to the Yodel and Evri app.
    • Hi there guys, I hope you're well.  I've recently done a term of Dance Yourself Fit, which began with a class at the Harris Girls Academy on the Nunhead side of the Rye, then transferred to the Charter School for Girls up by the old ED hospital. It's been so good and all the women attending have loved it too, but due to exams being on next term the classes are being discontinued in East Dulwich, much to our disappointment. They're moving them to Streatham, but that is not convenient for me and many of the others. This is a link to their site in case anyone is interested though: https://www.danceyourselffit.com I'm now looking for a replacement class that's not too expensive, keeps me moving energetically for an hour and is local and hopefully less than a tenner per lesson (this was about £72 for 8 classes I think?). Does anyone know of anything? I'm also looking for low-cost pilates classes to join too, if anyone has any recommendations for those too? Very best,  Eleanor  Also, just to add, what's been so nice is that it HASN'T been in a gym with lots of lively young lithe gazelle like creatures hopping about. It's been extremely inclusive for women of all sizes and shapes and really nice that it's been in schools not gyms. Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed!
