Sandperson
I haven't yet seen the Raphael challenge but I'll have a look. I'm sure you are all right. Fergie didn't talk to anyone all week after the charge after the Chelsea game. He's on one of his petulant tips. Sandperson
Well, having just seen it I take it back that challenge was nothing like the Carragher tackle. Lucas got a bnasty little kick in there just before as well. Also, in both incidents Liverpool players are doing all they can to goad United players. After the Carragher tackle Kuyt is screaming abuse at Nani on the floor (something Keane was vilified for) and Raphael has his hair pulled (girly I know but obviously meant to be a wind-up).Still, onwards. Arsenal fans have been saying things like this for years, remember when the Neville brothers kicked Reyes out of the FA cup semi a few years back. Still, onwards and upwards eh? Annasfield
Gerrard was sent off for a similar tackle at Old Trafford in the FA Cup this season. Like I said, it should have been 10 v 10, so no complaints from me. Jah Lush
I agree with that. It's antagonistic and inflammatory. Nani is exceptionally hard and has never been known to sulk or throw his toys out of the pram and have tantrums and to suggest that he is effeminate or girly in any sort of way is highly insulting. murphy
Hate the type of challenges made by Carragher and Raphael, going in too fast and reckless and to support Emerson they are the type that Arsenal have suffered from. There is a huge difference between the type of fouls made by David Luiz the other night - old fashioned clattering - and racing in at full pelt with studs raised with far greater potential for serious injury.Liverpool deserved winners by a long way, as against Chelsea surprised Fergie didn't stiffen the midfield, but Arsenal missed a huge opportumnity by failing to win.Anyway Palace have Cardiff at home tomorrow and QPR away on Saturday, god help us. SimonM
Palace look safe enough to me, given that Sheffield United have yet to win in 2011...and we have QPR away live on Sky on 3rd April! Can't quite recall who QPR's mabnager is, but know he is most unFergie-like where TV interviews/expressing his opinions are concerned...:)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18997-football-focus/page/308/#findComment-488542 Share on other sites
matthew123
The one good thing to come out of the Rafael and Carragher challenges is that the Liverpool players showed a togetherness and stood firm against the hystrionics of the United players. Too often in the past they'd have allowed likes of Scholes and Evra a free hand to harrang the Ref but not this time. The Reds also showed aggression in the aftermath, but directed at United, which in effect shielded the Ref from the kind of abuse we have sadly seen too often in the past. This bodes well for continued team spirit at Anfield under Kenny. I am, it saddens me to say, afraid of the mighty Scunthorpe. By the way I know Sheff Utd have had too many managers to change again, but Micky Adams and Dave Bassett! Against Palace it was very old fashioned football should be great v Magson's Sheff Wed next year!Sorry that sounds harsh, don't want to see a big club like Utd go down but just can't see you escpaing it now. Emerson Crane
Outrage from the Manc fans on here raises a wry smile from yours truly and put me in mind of the famous saying from Corporal Jones on Dads Army "they don't like it up 'em". To express outrage when their past and present players have been as guilty as any of commiting such challenges is more than a little rich.
