I really enjoyed watching that game today. Too many obvious things to mention. I've got a suggestion that I think most football fans would agree with that should be adopted in football. City player goes down today with an 'injury'* but is not fouled, in the refs opinion. It's not a serious 'injury' after the ball is kicked out, as he doesn't require treatment. Meanwhile the team with the ball are in effect punished as they feel obliged to put the ball out of play. They get the ball back but have to start from the back.

In rugby if someone is injured the player can be attended to by the medical staff while play continues. Surely if this were adopted in football we would have less of the feigning of injury that we have now. It seems players do it so the ball is put out of play, as a tactic. Hard to prove of course.

*The point of the asterisk is to say that when it it obvious that a serious injury has occured then I would expect most decent human beings to put the ball out of play if only to highlight how serious it is and get attention to the player as quickly as possible.

Brilliant game nevertheless. We were seated behind the correct goal in order to get a prime view of all 5 goals. FABULOUS! Quite a few yellow cards TOO, tutt tutt!

As for Anderson, WHAT a breath of fresh air.

As well as telly highlights, I see several newspapers are not permitted entry to grounds because of a dispute between the football governing bodies and the media groups. So journalists are being prevented from reporting on what's in front of them while 60000 fans can tweet/text to their hearts content. Greedy, ridiculous nonsense

Note from Admin:

There seems to have been a bug in the system that merged two discussions together, "Single Guys in ED" and "Football Focus", as Football focus was the largest (by about 250 pages!) this has become the main thread.

Sorry about that.

    • A friend of mine was into "skill swap" about 40 years ago. It wasn't within an organised scheme, she just offered services like help with painting in exchange for services received. She upset some people as they carried out their services for a living, I.e. for money. An organised scheme sounds much better.
    • Gosh, that is a blast from the past.  Friends in York were into this, he was an accountant and had things like decorating done in exchange.  Not sure if it was equivalent in terms of hours, and I recall HMRC being interested as it was a way of tax avoidance.   A link for a London wide scheme but have no idea of its popularity: https://www.londonwide.letslink.org/members/index.php

    • Posted around 12 cards 2 weeks prior to 24th December. Had some responses so know people have received them. Had about 20 cards - mixture of hand delivered and via post. After years of 'nagging' by myself and our daughters, we may have cured hubby of spending £4 plus on individual cards for our immediate family  ( when you have 12 immediate family it costs a bomb) Also as the girls state, they get put in the recycling bad at beginning of January regardless of cost.
