Great to meet some of you this Tuesday, it was really good to get out and about and have a chat. I can't make this Tuesday coming but hope to be there the following Tuesday and hopefully meet some new arrivals! Nicola

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question - has anyone bought a Breastfeeding cover up eg a mama scarf or apron etc? If so, can anyone recommend one? I would like something to preserve my modesty while out feeding but would like something easy to use while wrestling to latch on fussy baby!

Any recommendations or top tips?

Thanks

Ladies...

We need to organise paying the bill at the meet ups. Both times at the Gardens meet up the last person to leave has ended up paying for unclaimed coffees/cake etc which is pretty rubbish - today that was Emma and I - only one coffee this time thankfully (anyone want to reimburse us for a decaf americano we'd be grateful as makes it an expensive meet). Last poor Laura paid 5quid extra. I'm sure everyone paid for their orders (although tired Mum's may be forgetful?!) more likely the cafe are mucking up the bill but there's no way of disputing that once everyone has gone.

I think the only fair way is you go to the counter to order and pay right away so there isn't a bill - what do others think? Need to work something out - I won't be able or want to keep coming if I have to pay double!

Thanks

Jo

Jo, I'm sorry you had to do that. Totally agree with all paying separately. Ashley and I left first, I had paid for tea in advance and she paid for a decaf latte on the way out and I have to say they seemed confused about what was going on with the bill?!? Ashley is not on the forum but I would guess it was her drink. I'll sort you out next week.

Nice to see everyone though.

Hi ladies,

I haven't made it to the gardens as seem to always have appointments on a Tuesday, but hope to make it soon!

Sophie, my mother in law got me a mama scarf and I find it quite handy. I only really use it if I feel particularly self conscious though; generally if I am somewhere fairly baby friendly and/or with friends then I find it easiest not to bother with a cover up. I may just be brazen though!

Calling all Mum's with tongue tied babies, Sam had the snip on Friday after discovering he was 'tied' but still not seeing an improvement with his latch.... feeding every hour or so and with a toddler it's becoming a nightmare, how long did it take everyone else to see an improvement? I'm eyeing up his bottles and v close to caving in!! Thanks, Nikki x x

Hi Nikki, I saw improvement in Dexter's latch almost immediately after the snip but he's still being sleepy and frustrating to feed due to jaundice which is taking its time to go. Who did your snip? If it wasn't Katie Fisher then I would recommend speaking to her - she can do consultation over the phone (I think) as well as in person....she'd almost certainly be able to tell you what's occurring. Saw her for my snip follow up today and she's really good, calm and reassuring! I have her number if you want it.

Good luck xx

Thanks Jane :-) It was Dr Patel and Katie Fisher so I guess I'll wait for my follow up to discuss things with her. Hopefully thinfs will start to improve over next few days. Starting to feel like a prisoner in my own home with all the feedings!! x x

Hi everyone,

Very excited to announce the safe arrival of Charlie Barton at 4.30 yesterday after rather a dramatic unplanned home birth! He is a very mini 5lbs 9oz and is perfect. Probably a bit optimistic to think I will make Tuesdays meet up but hopefully see you at the next one.

Hi Nikki - fingers crossed things improve soon, I guess it might take him a little longer to adapt as he was a bit older than Dexter when snipped... for what its worth my toddler is a nightmare whilst I'm feeding...did my first bedtime with two of them on Thursday...let's just say it was interesting!;-) Good luck!!

Congrats Olivia and Emily. Emily did the Tens machine help?

Nikki and Jane had no idea your boys also had tongue ties. Crazy how common this is. Both my boys had them. First son diagnosed late at 6 weeks and did take a while after the snip, he had to relearn how to feed basically but did get it but unfortunately he had already done me some mega damage. Sam's one is far less severe and they didn't actually snip it.

In terms of feeding, my toddler was also a nightmare in the early weeks, clambering all over me and attention seeking but is better now he is used to it and quite helpful at times (sam is 9 weeks now)Tried to time feeds with his meals, snacks etc and used lots of cbeebies, iPhone or iPad apps etc.

5-7 time is still tough but there was a great thread on here a while back about good routines. I just make sure that I have my toddlers milk, pj s etc all ready in the bathroom and then try and bundle both boys out and give them milk ASAP otherwise get total meltdown from both!

Hope to make this Tuesday as keep missing them!
