Missing post since sorting office moved to peckham

Recommended Posts

Love how apparently it takes an hour to get to Peckham though . . I think this is just typical Guardian poor subbing, as earlier in the piece it refers to '30 minutes walk' - I think the piece should have read an hour-long round trip by bus - which would make more sense - with waiting times it may well be from many parts of ED.

Two buses? I also live near Sylvester Road. I get the 12 from Barry Road if going to Peckham by bus (but I've not had to go to the delivery office yet, thank goodness).

Taking 10-14 days for post to arrive with me right now! And the postmen we've got delivering are shockingly bad. Had post for west Norwood address yesterday, its miles away!! We always get next doors, they get ours, someone comes from 3 streets down. Its become a nightmare.

I have the same issues... Post once a week if we are lucky. Post for a different address on multiple occasions and even a parcel for another address that required a signature shoved through our letter box! It must be nearly 2 months since the sorting office closed and still no improvement.

Hi all,

Martha here from ITV LONDON.

We are looking to report on what has been happening to your post and the closure of the East Dulwich depot on the news tomorrow.

I am looking to speak to as many of you that have been effected as possible.

I have put in a bid to speak to Helen Hayse who I understand has been leading the campaign.

I also also requested to speak to someone from Royal Mail.

Please get in contact if you would be happy to speak to us - [email protected]

Thanks so much!

Martha

I was thinking the exact same thing - one card from Japan so far and none from the UK! Luckily international parcels have been sent by DHL etc.

noticed that - at least they have journalists taking note of ED :)

I think on the hours round trip it would include walking to the bus stop - going back in to check you turned the lights off - walking out again - waiting for the bus - travelling on the bus - a queue up East Dulwich Road and jostling through the crowd on Rye Lane. So probably is 30 mins each way.

    • @Earl, Be assured, it is purely a local group. In fact it is a genteel group of Dulwich area residents, mostly ladies , who are a little  reluctant to publish their individual names as they do not wish to be targets for hostility from internet trolls. Local residents who attended the anti-LTN gatherings in Dulwich would have easily recognised the active members of the group. Should you have any queries about funding, it is quite easy to send them an email.
    • Hi  I have a spare old wheelbarrow that you could have for free. You’d need to come and collect it from Telegraph Hill, so drop me a message if you’re still looking and we can arrange a time best wishes carrie
    • This is quite a serious allegation. What evidence is there of this? Pressured how and by whom? This is quite a spin on ‘it’s been agreed with the emergency services’. They think the vehicles pictured driving through with partially covered plates are the result of ‘poor signage’ 🤔  If it is as they say ‘small numbers’ driving through the square, that doesn’t suggest that the signage is unclear. I mean who honestly believes it’s possible to drive through there without noticing the signs / planters (assuming you’re driving with due care and attention)?! 🤨  Also, haven’t ‘One’ opposed any improvements to the layout / landscaping and signage proposed by Southwark? It’s all a bit desperate. At the height of the LTN ‘controversy’ a number of co-ordinated ‘One’ groups popped up across London. It doesn’t feel like a local grassroots movement, but has all the hallmarks of astroturfing. The lack of transparency about it’s funding / sponsorship and structure does not help with this impression.
    • Hi there, My children and I are adopting 4 ex-battery hens and seeking a secondhand home for them, let me know if you have anything, of any style that might fit four feathered ladies in. I can collect at your convenience this weekend or during the week.    Warmest, Hannah
