I was wandering down champion hill to Denmark Hill this morning and a very well dressed gentleman in his late 50s was walking two of those yappy wandering balls of cotton wool (small dogs that crush men's spirits as my friend calls them), fat miniature poodle type things (i'm not that good on breeds) and they both laid cables and he happily wandered off. I was late for my train otherwise would have had words as he wasn't scary, but shows it's all sorts that do it.

I politely asked a gentleman of advancing years if he would pick up his dogs ,ahem ,cables as they had parked them right outside the gates of Goodrich School. I gently (yes gently dear readers ) pointed out that the school had 700 pupils and look ,some of them were approaching back from an outing this very minute.........

" Ive had a dog for 50 years and i'm not going to start picking it up now" (paraphrase)

"YOU ARE AN IGNORANT OLD MAN THEN" (not very gently)

Exit stage left and right

Well done that Clare! Woot woot!! >:D<

Honestly - he shouldn't be allowed to have a dog the silly old g*t! Mockney, as time waits for no man, you are excused, and fractionater; discretion is the better part of valour, so you get off too!

I have a real bee in my bonnet about dog poo - it is vile (and like I said, if I can manage to scrape it up (*gag*) anyone can!) [spymum changes into her (fetching) cape and tights].

The reason that tree on Melbourne Grove has No Dog Mess signs all over it is because it is outside the house of a family with a disabled child who is wheelchair bound. I imagine it's pretty unpleasant having faeces on a wheelchair so as you can imagine they're pretty active in trying to stop it.

I think next time I will take pictures of the offending evidence and the owners on my phone, and post them on the site!

perhaps if we can all do this we could have a "Hall of Shame" section on this site where local residents who mess up ED are named and shamed...publicly!

Indeed, it is I, the Administrator who can set this up, however creating a section for naming and shaming people without evidence isn't something we like the idea of. You can do so on your own thread but please have evidence to back up your statement as we would rather not get involved in legal issues if we can help it.

I don't even want to know how you know that captain.

Still, on the theory that there's a group for pretty much everything on flickr, there is, rather disturbingly a dogs pooing group.

This world is one strange place.

I wonder what the Mail would have to say about that?

I think fractionater has hit the nail on the head...most of us have mobile phones....take a pic and put on the web ..a hall of shame for these selfish people...All parks should have dog exercising areas like the one on Dog Kennel Hill...my poor 3 year old can run merrily across on our way to Sainsburys without stepping in a pile of turd...maybe we should pick up for them and follow them home and post through there letter boxes or on there doorsteps and see how they like it!!!

Dog excrement, what about the human stuff?

On the pavement at the start of Upland Road this morning, a pile of human looking poo with associated toilet paper, nice.

A couple of months ago in exactly the same spot (this is opposite the Garden Centre) were some poo encrusted purple pants.

Could this have something to do with the secret police HQ? Someone waging a faeces based vendetta against our boys in plain clothes?

    • To be fair, a pot of tea for one in a department store is a small pot, and you only get one cup or mug!
    • I know - we have been here lots of times since it first opened,  which is why we were disappointed that it was closed at a time it was supposed to be open, but with no notice to say why! I guess we will just  have to ask the reason at our next visit, but I'm not sure we will risk Saturday lunchtime again unless we find the closure  was an unavoidable one off ....
    • Nope. I don’t have this wrong. I’ve tried to put my point across respectfully, without resorting to personal, angry insults. And all my colleagues agree that the BBC got this right in its condemnation.    All you see is confirmation bias.    If you don’t realise that, then you’re part of the problem.
    • We have always gone during the week at lunch time - great place and good value. Husband has been several times on his own and owner knows his first name. I could not go one time for some reason and she sent him home with some spring rolls (free)
