Curling really belongs in the Winter games but can be effective if you manage a long slow push that results in a clean slide. The brushes can be a little scratchy though - however efficient they are in removing troublesome grit and stubborn shards.

Geniarse ... A moment of clarity in a conversation otherwise filled with absolute shit.

or

Someone who is generally accepted to be an arse but occasionally shows moments of pure genius.

My only event last night - at Wembley for the women's football final and medal ceremony. I was blown away by the atmosphere which was infinitely better than the two cup finals I've been to. 80,203 people roaring, brilliant family atmosphere, no queue for the gents, and a great end-to-end game.

Most priceless moment - Sep Blatter stepped up and announced to present the medals and was roundly booed by the entire stadium for about 1 minute before swapping to massive cheers for each of the 3 winning teams. Not sure if that made the telly?

Yeah that Sepp Blatter moment was the highlight for me too....just genius. The reason why he was booed was for the following comment he made in 2004.

"Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball. ... They could, for example, have tighter shorts."

This guy is a symbol of the sexism that stopped the women's game progressing until recently and why he was given the honour of being part of the medal ceremony is beyond comprehension.

Otherwise it was a great night......the atmosphere was awesome and for me it was amazing to finally see a women's final played out to a sell out crowd at Wembley.

Nice to hear that MrBen. I took my daughter to her first football at this Olympics. She loved it - great atmosphere, big crowd and 5 goals.

Same old Wembley when we were there though - 45 minute queue for food, cash payements only, making a massive queue of people stand and wait until the half time whistle before they served alcohol and (I swear I'm not making this up) the bar on one side of the concourse selling pints for ?4.70 and the bar on the other side selling half pints for ?4.50!

I think you are analysing this a bit too much DJKQ - I reckon it just comes down the fact that everyone hates Sepp Blatter.

    • I've seen my cat many times walk straight past a fox, at less than half a metre separation. both animals ignored each other.
    • The young ones can bite car tyres around this time of year - I assume they do it for the thrill of the hiss or something like that.  We had a spate of damaged tyres and thought it was a disturbed person or at a stretch an environmental protestor taking it too far, but caught a fox on a house camera.
    • Although this sounds worrying, a "bitey" fox is unusual. I see foxes all the time where I live near Rye Lane and have never experienced this. I've even seen a fox sitting in the garden where an outdoor cat lives, whilst the cat was there - the cat was fine and is still alive. I think my flat is on a fox path because I hear and see them most nights, none of the local cats seem bothered by them. I can't help but wonder what would make the fox act in such a way, I've just read that toxoplasmosis might make them more aggressive
