Well I try not to but having lived in slightly ropier parts of town than ED until now and tried out some of those local boozers to only be met by pretty unfriendly stares it is not always worth the risk...!

I am so so fond of the CPT, and do worry about its fate. It's the only proper local pub left! No pretensions to being a hotel lobby or suchlike (Clockhouse take note), just nice staff and an agreeable atmosphere. As Ant said, not much not needs changing other than structural stuff.

I did go into the Castle once Pebs (a long time ago), and it was a bit scary. Agree the building has potential though.

A magical mystical thing has happened in East Dulwich.

Somehow, seemingly in the middle of the night, the paint fairy has bestowed upon the CPT a fetching shade of GREEN.

I have had to look at that shitty purple flaking paint out my front window for 5 years. It feels like I've moved house.

I thank the lord!

Now stick a juke box in the back and pick up the 72 clientele. GENIUS.

I'm not sure things have got that bad yet.

If you require a style consultant, then wouldn't you not know 'style' if it moved into your spare room?

That aside , the £200 threshold just means the offender can carry on regardless until trespassed. Trespassing the perp is the only meaningful method the control the crime and it is incumbent on us all the assist the shop owner and the police to identify the person.
    • How was what I posted in any way childish? I stand by what I said, that the description given could apply to many people and was not helpful  in identifying the person. It is not clear why it needed to be posted on here at all.
    • For goods under £200, shoplifting is treated as a summary offense and is often dealt with through fines or community service. Changes were made to the Anti-social behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42492488 Shoplifting is a massive problem right now. It's at the highest levels ever recorded according to the OfS.
