Blondie
One train stuck in station, one just outside in other direction, as power to rail lost as frozen. Case of wait for it to melt, or a network rail guy to come and sort. Just happened so driver had no eta of how long before up and running again. On up side buses seem to be running Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/28243-currently-no-trains-in-either-direction-from-ed-station/ Share on other sites

Floating Onion
The 40 was fine all the way in. Quite quick due to the lack of traffic. Blondie
We would have expected them to have run de-icing trains in the night, but from what the train driver said this morning, before we had to get off, clearly that was too much to ask, he said no de-icing trains had been running. Jeremy
If the trains had been running over the weekend, I guess we wouldn't have had such a large build up of snow on the tracks. Monkey
Could it be due to engineering works? I heard something to that effect this morning but I might not have understood properly. Oh dear. Vik
There were engineering works over the weekend, but they didn't run anything at all last night which may have helped. Twirly
I looked online and saw that there were delays/cancellations at both Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye, so caught the 37 to Brixton (which was only slightly delayed) and the Victoria line from there to Green Park - was in work about 10 minutes later than usual, so can highly recommend this route if you need to get into central London. However, the station at Brixton probably had twice as many people entering it as normal - still managed to get a seat though. Think people getting on further up might have struggled though. Michael Palaeologus
So, those responsible for the roads have learned the lessons of the past few years. Were well prepared and have done an excellent job of keeping traffic moving in harsh conditions. For those responsible for the rails, its Groundhog Day. Chillaxed
Agree with MP. The issues associated with snow are mostly predictable and manageable; the train copmanies have dropped the ball, again. Bic Basher
The live departure board for Peckham Rye is a sight for sore eyes.http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/ldbboard/dep/PMROverground:"No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction and between Willesden Junction and Richmond to due to power supply problems caused by snow and ice. MINOR DELAYS between Highbury & Islington and New Cross / West Croydon / Crystal Palace. London Underground is accepting tickets via reasonable routes. GOOD SERVICE on other routes." EJTH
Suggest you all join twitter and follow @BBCTravelAlerts @TFLTravelAlerts @nationalrailenq @SouthernRailUK as they tweet live updates and it's the only reliable way of finding out anything short of turning up at the station. Often faster than their websites.NOTE: Southern are already saying that tomorrow ie Tuesday 22 Jan, they will be running an amended timetable as they are doing today - http://www.southernrailway.com/ and http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/plan-my-journey/temporary-timetable-b Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/28243-currently-no-trains-in-either-direction-from-ed-station/#findComment-609480 Share on other sites

polla2256
Southern have to be one of the worst toc's I've seen. It was evident this morning that no preparation work at all has taken place. I can't believe they haven't retrofitted de icers to the 377's or requested support from lorol 378 to run a special diagram with their De icers. It seems as though they have just given up, roll on the thameslink takeover.
