One train stuck in station, one just outside in other direction, as power to rail lost as frozen. Case of wait for it to melt, or a network rail guy to come and sort. Just happened so driver had no eta of how long before up and running again.

On up side buses seem to be running

Well, a few tasty treats would be nice while we all waited!

Maybe a coffee too?

(sorry)

I looked online and saw that there were delays/cancellations at both Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye, so caught the 37 to Brixton (which was only slightly delayed) and the Victoria line from there to Green Park - was in work about 10 minutes later than usual, so can highly recommend this route if you need to get into central London.

However, the station at Brixton probably had twice as many people entering it as normal - still managed to get a seat though. Think people getting on further up might have struggled though.

So, those responsible for the roads have learned the lessons of the past few years. Were well prepared and have done an excellent job of keeping traffic moving in harsh conditions.

For those responsible for the rails, its Groundhog Day.

The live departure board for Peckham Rye is a sight for sore eyes.

Overground:

"No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction and between Willesden Junction and Richmond to due to power supply problems caused by snow and ice. MINOR DELAYS between Highbury & Islington and New Cross / West Croydon / Crystal Palace. London Underground is accepting tickets via reasonable routes. GOOD SERVICE on other routes."

Suggest you all join twitter and follow @BBCTravelAlerts @TFLTravelAlerts @nationalrailenq @SouthernRailUK as they tweet live updates and it's the only reliable way of finding out anything short of turning up at the station. Often faster than their websites.

NOTE: Southern are already saying that tomorrow ie Tuesday 22 Jan, they will be running an amended timetable as they are doing today - http://www.southernrailway.com/ and http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/plan-my-journey/temporary-timetable-b

Southern have to be one of the worst toc's I've seen. It was evident this morning that no preparation work at all has taken place. I can't believe they haven't retrofitted de icers to the 377's or requested support from lorol 378 to run a special diagram with their De icers. It seems as though they have just given up, roll on the thameslink takeover.

    • It was a reactionary post and inappropriate when talking about a real case and a real person who was harmed.  London streets are generally pretty safe.  Sadly violent crime happens from time to time, as it always has.
    • Do tell, CPR Dave, what the spiteful jealous stuff is - I'm intrigued.  Agree - Burnham is a top class communicator (polar opposite of Starmer) he'd do a great job of uniting the party. I still think Wes Streeting has the edge, though I'm sure he has more enemies as well.
    • This is a huge part of the problem.   Starmer is only interested in himself, not in what is best for our country.    There's a litany of stuff he's done for spiteful jealous personal reasons which has damaged the nation enormously. Burnham would be a much better leader than of the other dross left behind when Starmer goes. To inflict a worse leader (and PM) upon us for his own selfish reasons would add to the problems and be entirely in keeping with his woeful premiership so far.
    • I heard today there was a burglary in Lacon Road yesterday evening between 20.00 - 22.00,  apparently the owners were home at the time & thieves got away with electrical items along with the owners car!  Wtf!   Anyone heard anything else?
