Debi
Those who doubt that fascism is alive and well in 21st century Britain only needs to check their voter's card today. If the BNP get 5% of the vote (and they came v close before) they automatically get a seat on the London Assembly. I doubt if the timing of this graffiti is coincidental. ratty
Whether it is nazi or not, if I see someone spraying that filth around my town then I shall taken it upon myself to kick their heads down the road with a hell of a lot of pleasure! That symbol makes me want to puke! Keef
It would be nice if some group or other would adopt the swastika as a sign of something positive almost relaunch it, in order to take it away from neo-nazi / stupid bast@rd types.Would be a bit like "Buddy Christ" in the film Dogma, it's all about the marketing!http://blog.osministry.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/lol_buddy_jesus.jpg Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3181-swastikas-on-bus-ticket-machines-lounged/page/3/#findComment-99432 Share on other sites
*Bob*
It's a great bit of design. Easy to understand why the Nazi's pinched it.Bryan Ferry was right on the money there.. though possibly he could have put his perfectly reasonable point a little better. annaj
*Bob* I've edited my original post; I said that the symbol was used by the nazi party without going on to say that it has subsequently been adopted by neo-nazi organisations. I realsie this was inacurate (a sloppy oversight, my apologies) and have changed it. I hope this avoids detention as I have dinner plans tonight. With that small correction, however, I stand by my original post. I am also not asking people to take to the streets in hysterical, reactionary response to a bit of badly drawn graffiti. I am simply saying that any evidence of possible neo-nazi activity or feeling most certainly warrants discussion. mattham
So, assuming that swastikas daubed on walls are bad ? and I think most sane people on here would agree they are ? what's the best course of action? I was going to paint over the one on Fellbrigg Road, but I think it's on someone's house. Would I get any funny looks if I tried to cover it do you think? LizzygotDizzy
The danger of that is that someone may mistake you for the culprit and thump you before you get the chance to explain that you are actually covering it up, or if it is on a house might prosecute you for defacing the property, call the Council, they are usually pretty quick where racially offensive grafitti is concerned. furryjumpergirl
I don't have any paint, but the one at the entrance to The Gardens (the one near the zebra crossing) isn't on anyone's house and needs to be removed please! How come the Council haven't come to sort them out yet? david_carnell
I live on Oakhurst Grove and have some white paint. If it's still there when I get home tonight I'll paint it over if no one objects.Otherwise Lizzy's right about the council. They're pretty good about this sort of thing. *Bob*
mattham Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------Would I> get any funny looks if I tried to cover it do you> think? That's a tricky one. Someone might think you'd had one too many in Palmerston, did it on the way home and (having sobered-up the next day and realised your error) rushed out to cover the evidence. In any case the council might fine you for defacing council property - by way of one of their 'Nazi' wardens. furryjumpergirl
Yes the Council are good at this stuff - if people report it! I spoke to them at about half 3 and they said they'll be out within 4 hours to sort it out. I could only tell them about The Gardens one, if anybody else knows locations ring them on 020 7525 5777 - also a handy number if you have noisy neighbours!! Moos
Blimey, I've missed a lot of discussion.*Bob*, seems my comment annoyed you - apologise if that was the case, it certainly wasn't intended as a lecture. It was intended to express mild amazement and in hope that you would go into more detail. Sorry if it came across wrongly. I guess the question is whether they have all been reported? And have any/all been removed now? furryjumpergirl
I saw some Council guys removing the one at the end of my road and one on the bus stop round the corner early this morning - they seemed quite taken aback when I thanked them profusely! I told them there were more dotted around and they said they'd have a look. Perhaps the ones Rolo reported were in a different area? ????
So a StGeorge's cross is Nazi now......mmm....what a stupid PC load of crap. You see loads of different people of all races with StGeorges' flags during the World Cup...its somehow only a symbol of naziism to highly idiotic PC white libersls who still think it's the 1980s (or in more extreme cases the 1960s) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3181-swastikas-on-bus-ticket-machines-lounged/page/3/#findComment-99935 Share on other sites
