Went there today Very Quiet Few Kids on the Frame but loads of empty tables. Food ? Well A Poor Courgette that had seen better days a Tasty but unroasted Nut Roast. 2 Very Nice Roast Potatoes. My Meaty Friend Didnt like the half chicked dumped on her plate. I'm no expert but it sort of looked unfinished! My Boy played Minecraft on my Phone. Good lad.

Wouldn't say 10 pounds for a cheeseburger and chips is expensive in fact for London that's pretty reasonable...

Bear in mind I haven't been to The Herne Tavern in a while (for the reasons i'm about to highlight) so forgive me if this isn't still true but I think the biggest issue the beer garden has there is the huge extractor flu from the kitchen that is way too loud and also blows out chip fat grease and smell all day creating not the most relaxing or pleasant place to have a drink. The other problem I think is the way it seems to be divided up into loads of different sections by all those banks, it's all a bit weird. Has potential to be a good pub for everyone I reckon if that all gets sorted.

We went to the Herne last night with friends, and the new menu is lovely, we really enjoyed the food. Sharing plates are a good size and make nice starters, and our mains (steak, lamb, salmon and vege) were great. I had a quick look outside and I think the climbing frame has gone, but I couldn't really see whether the new play area was there yet. ?100 for 4 people, 3 courses and drinks, pretty good. As our closest pub I'm looking forward to going more often.

Hi All,

We just wanted to let you know that phase 1 of The Herne Tavern refurb is now nearly complete and we will be re-opening tomorrow at 4pm after a hard week of improvements. Lots has been done to add to the work we've been slowly doing over the last few months and we are pretty happy with the outcome.

It's all very exciting and we are very much looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible over the next few weeks.

    • Nice to see the property is going to reopen with a Newish business, good luck to them.
    • Of course they do, watching cookery shows and buying cook books is a national pastime. However you raise a good point that some people claim they are time poor and end up eating out / takeaways as sometimes a quick macciedee is cheaper and easier than making a quick nutrious family meal.  However to put it in balance, not many people have the knowledge, confidence and time to cook Persian so good luck to team persepolis on this venture.
    • London doesn’t have a lot of Argentinian places specialising in empanadas, which suggests demand isn’t that great. There are many neighbourhoods with none at all or even nearby.  So for a mini-chain like Chango (several branches in SW London) to open here where there’s already a well established family run place doing the same feels a bit off.  I’ll be giving Chacarero my ongoing custom.
