Oh dear we're getting into Swiss Toni territory here aren't we. Anyway, buying a car like making love to a beautiful woman...etc etc. She had a lovely chassis actually Lozzy and underneath that bonnet was well oiled engine that put in a high performance....I'll get me coat.
S'funny, I was just looking at the spelling of...that word and realised it could do without the 'c'. Thanks for pointing it out though Honalucheebee, now get your sorry ass into pedants corner with that Lynn Truss and her team of hair-splitting superheroes. Ever get the feeling that the original thrust(ooer) of your thread has been hijacked by a bunch of Finbar Saunders types?

Sorry old thing, but I was merely having some fun, I assumed your original post was made in the spirit of, well, genuine frustration but at the same time humourous intent. I'm quite happy to have my ass in Pedant's Corner (see you neglected to capitalise and missed the apostrophe. Although there are some who would have it as Pedants Corner, or indeed Pedants' Corner) but I don't see why you seem to be having a pop at me. I'm confident that Lynne Trusse wouldn't approve of me any more than you seem to do. And as for Finnbarr Saunders and what he does, I'd best be taking my large purple rooster and putting it somewhere near a cat. That's the best I can do as far as the innuendo is concerned so no fear there.

Regards

Not sure about nobody, but you're a somebody with an opinion.

I'm still puzzled as to what point I incurred your wrath. Was it it the first two posts?

Was it the one about the porches?

Tell me, I'm very keen to know.

Seriously.

Porches? Wow, sorry if you get the feeling that I'm sitting here stewing in a puddle of angry juices, just a bit'o'banter s'all. Apply a cold flannel to your forehead and watch an episode of Heartbeat or something equally soothing. I shall worry you no more. ;-)

Just to head back to the original thread topic in my Asperger-like fashion...

To quote from a Campagnolo (nice cycle parts) enthusiasts' website:

'The Japanese have design with Kaizen. This word means continuous improvement in a product. They take a design and optimize it to the last degree.'

This in the cycle world at least, explains why Shimano are constantly changing their designs and rendering the old ones obsolete/incompatible. Effing annoying if you want that old part to be working years later. The Italians (Campagnolo) are a different matter.

And anyway, where can I get a new top for my Russell Hobbs coffee grinder?

Certainly an element of adolescence in some of these posts - possibly built-in by nature or acquired by nuture, who can tell?

Certainly my chewing gum loses its flavour on the bedpost over night which is bloody outrageous and a damning condemnation of our times.

    • Thanks to everyone who replied in this thread. Genuinely helpful information, observations and thoughts... and helps restore my broader faith in humnanity! Also, my bank just told me someone called them saying they had found my card on Crystal Palace Road. Thank you people of East Dulwich ❤️.
    • still on the look out for your unused / unloved cd collections around all weekend best Tim
    • But that's the point isn't it Mal, if you go to Glastonbury you are with a hundred thousand other people in the wilds of the country and you cannot complain about noise disruption - you can be selective about where you camp of course.  The Glasto organisers and local council go out of their way to keep the locals onside - friends of mine used to live in a village some miles from Worthy Farm and would be offered free tickets. But there are a lot of people in Dulwich and Herne Hill and Brixton who have huge amounts of disruption thrust upon them because this is, after all, a densely populated urban area and not deepest Somerset.  Councils want to monetise our public spaces as much as they can but this is often in conflict with the needs and wants of their constituents who live nearby. What is happening in Brockwell is a warning as Southwark will want to try and monetise Peckham Rye to the same extent if they can.
