No of course it's not the best place, but if somebody calls a bar owner a "knob" on here because the bar owner objected to a musician passing the hat round when they had already agreed a fee with the bar owner, then - well, Jamie isn't here to defend himself, is he?

As a music promoter myself, it seems all wrong to try to be paid twice, once by the pub and once by the audience.

If an agreement isn't clear, then it should have been put in writing at the outset. And travelling expenses should have been taken into account when the fee was agreed.

I don't blame Jamie for deducting the hat money, sorry Kingy. We had quite a few gigs at Hooper's, and it just wouldn't have occurred to me to pass a hat round, as Jamie was paying us/the musicians.

Happy to discuss it over a pint or two .......

GTF - the hat part was part of the deal - lying cheating dick - full stop - and that's a full stop and I agree that this is no place for it but you asked for it - quel surprise

put in fricking writing and get lawyer involved - a deal is a deal is a deal and the guy was a to55pot , it's easy for an 'organiser' to say but when you just want to play you just want to play but you need to get paid what you have agreed

I only wish I could say the same! Needless to say by that stage, no-one cares about the layout or ambience of the place just the late opening hours :))

I was there on Tuesday evening, I rarely go there (used to regularly when it was the Black Cherry) it was nice, there were about 12 customers, the food one couple were eating looked nice. The staff behind the bar were pleasant enough just a bit of atmosphere lacking.

I happen to love the Korean Fried Chicken at the Draft House. Also had an excellent burger in there on several occasions.

Lots of picky moans on here but hard to say that its not at least a decent pub and at best a good-ish one versus other offerings in the past decade.

Oh, we're talking about the Draft House again, are we?

At the end of the day the beer selection is good and the food offering is decent (maybe a little inconsistent, but easily the best burger I've eaten in ED was at the DH). The interior isn't the best but I really think it deserves to survive at the very least...

    • The Sky article says the manager has apologised. Apparently, according to the article the person who said they'd apply on Rachel and her husband behalf left and didn't hand the job on. • I'm utterly baffled as to why anybody thinks this is newsworthy, let alone worth a front page. The economy has barely grown for 20 years and the housing crisis has been worsening for a similar time period. Note to any journalists on the forum: maybe focus your headlines on important issues.
