I'd take GG's recommendation over any random, overly-glowing praise from first time posters anyway.

Oh my

This thread has spectacularly improved my evening and inspired me to post outside family forum for the first time. Poor old EDfan. You screwed up big style didn't you...

Made me laugh out loud though despite chest infection/ tiredness from young baby and row with Mr ACBP ce soir.

Why thank you...every cloud and all that.

That said, the circumstantial evidence is there IMO... And the negative inference there to be drawn.

A big no to ever using Jacksons from me I'm afraid...

Once upon a time there was an East Dulwich estate agent called Osbourne Stewart. Some bright spark at the office thought it would be a good idea to diss Foxtons and big up their own business. The story is retold here in ye EDF archives:

http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,54674,54908#msg-54908

And Osbourne Stewart duly went out of business.

Plus ca change.

Played already giggirl!

Dismal start.

35%

Top points for a house in Haringey though... Jacksons why don't you go and inflict yourselves on N London instead???

Mr ACBP will love that game once out of grump...

He will swiftly become addicted.

As I am to the marvellous stuff that goes on in this forum.

Loving it...

And all because the Jacksons Darren man posted in disguise...quel dommage

I got 60% on the first attempt. Although I might have hoped to do better, I am not discouraged and see the exercise as a reminder that life is a process of continuous improvement.

In that vein, and as a motivated self-starter with a distinguished career in a range of creative industries, including client-facing roles in the marketing sector, I'd like to be the first to welcome Jacksons to the community, and thank them for their kind invitation to meet their team.

Although estate agents get a bad press on this forum, I believe Jacksons are not just an ornament to their profession, but a shining example to community-centred businesspeople everywhere. It is, admittedly, a difficult position to maintain in the current environment, not least because it is no easy task to recruit the best in a world where estate agency, rather than being seen as a rewarding and necessary vocation for those with the requisite talents, is often unfairly disparaged.

But for those such as myself - a proven negotiator with both considerable business acumen, certificates for punctuality, literacy and numeracy and a sound, working knowledge of social media and digital PR - who can see the wood for the trees, Jacksons pre-eminence is more than obvious. It it is just a shame that, for reasons beyond my control, I am currently unable to consider a change of career within the next week. However, I wish them the very best of luck in the future, and look forward to meeting them on Sunday.

Hey - I got 74% on my first attempt - I think I could actually be an estate agent on that basis...

Is that a good or bad thing?

Although it may be in part as I am in the process of moving, so both buying and selling property at the moment. So whilst looking for somewhere to buy, I put a call in to Jacksons to see when they expected to start having stock to view. I have to say that my first impression was that the person I spoke to was very profesional and courteous, and from someone currently outside of area, seemed to very quickly get a handle on what I was looking for. And I have to say that has not been the case with all of the exisiting agents in Dulwich (although equally some have been very good).

So, particularly as I belive we live in a free market where anyone who wants to open a business (within certain limits) and can fund the rents/rates/overhead is free to do so, I welcome Jacksons as a new addition to the area.

But seriously, Jacksons, if you were responsible for the ED Fan comments the best thing you could do would be to fess up, apologise, and start again. Or if not strenuously deny...

(Rumored that Evri will pay only 20-30p to a shop that receives/sends a parcel). The problem is the business model of these courier companies that do not invest in infrastructure or depots, but just outsource everything and set "contractor" drivers impossible targets. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/dec/08/christmas-parcel-delivery-drivers-driven-to-the-edge
