Some of us enjoy The Archers, PeckhamRose.

One day when you are older you may get into it, and then you will realise they have expert farmy's who supply up to the minute farming info' to The Archers wordsmiths.

Fictional characters they may be, but it does have its finger on the farming pulse to an extent. So it should, it is an every day story of country folk as they say.

Rather similar to the ed forum really, an every day story of urban folk all with fictional names etc. Eventually one of the edf writers will groom it and make an every day story of 'Townies'.

I see it more as an addiction - but equally 10.00 - 11.15 Sunday's usually finds me doing something with a radio on in the background. First hooked when driving back from day shift at 7.00pm every evening.

On badgers - I'd cull them if I had a dairy herd

What are you angry about - NOT culling badgers?

You might be right that if they were ugly buggers no one would mind killing them (as an aside,a friend once pointed out that if prawns lived on land there's no way we'd eat them - imagine one now, scuttling from under your sofa, and the picture it again, glistening with oil and chilli atop your spahettini...)

However, having listened a good deal to Farming Today, it seems to me that the case has not been made for a badger cull, that it is very far from proven that badgers cause the spread of bovine tb, and therefore, as a signed up member of the tufty club, i can't condone the pointless slaughter of these cute but fearsome creatures

Farmers hate the little buggers. They do look cute but my mate who lives in deepest darkest Devon told me an interesting story. The local vets did a survey of road kill badgers and found that 9 out of 10 had been shot before being dumped on the road. Pity they banned Fox hunting I think Michael Palaeologus would have made a marvelous MFH on Dulwich Common (perhaps we could call it Dulwich Posh instead?)

    • If you mean the one outside the church going towards Peckham, it still had the closed sign on it this morning, but as there are no road works there, I'm sure some of the drivers will stop there on request.  The stop outside the chippy coming from Peckham is closed as there are road works in front of it.  The 4 way traffic lights are in operation.., causing a lot of congestion.
    • We found a recommendation for Geek Electrics on a here after we wanted to have a electrical inspection of a property we are buying. From the very beginning through to the end Bob was responsive, helpful and demonstrated his knowledge. He has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. We will defiantly be using Bob again and would thoroughly recommend him! His details are... www.geekelectrics.co.uk 07453 407 226 [email protected]
    • I want to try that and also the granary loaf. Used to get a good granary loaf from the bakery that was in Herne Hill a long time ago.  Think they are somewhere In the vicinity of Coulsdon now. They used to make the hamburger buns for the Meatwagon/Meatliquor people.
