I think I may of commented about The Patch in another thread when they stated they would be open at

the end of August and I said it would be unlikely.

Once again 'THE FOX' as you put was proved right..

Louisa I don't read the Guardian - only students do, generally. I prefer more grown-up news in whatever form.

I do however like good food.

I don't even go into Witherspoons at the airport...so if sticky carpets and Aunt Bessie tatties are your thing (oh no, you like Pret-a-manger) then no, I for one shan't be shouting you a bit a lamb - sorry. But I will be very happy to report back on my experience. To spare you from the hideousness of all the good food, and that.

Well I salute you in your endeavour to find 'good food' tallulah (as objective a subject as that may be) and I also respect your 'half glass full' approach to food you are yet to try (unless you are psychic and have foreseen just how great it will be of course). Not to worry about the lack of support for the 'Louisa Lamb Main Fund' or LLMF as I like to call it, I'm sure I'll somehow reach my target of ?10 somehow. Please do report back and let me know how great the food is. I've never been into this Witherspoons establishment you refer to? Is it similar to Wetherspoons? If so I'm down for an Aunt Bessie's roast spud anytime of the day.. I'll certainly be trying that one out next time I'm stuck at an airport :)

Sorry, tallulah71. More an informality than an obvious typo though. No I've not checked my shoulder lately, I hope it's still in the freezer though because I do love a shoulder of lamb. If not, then I'll have to just wait for my shared plate with Sue :) talking of shoulders have you checked yours? I'm sure there's a sense of humour there somewhere. Just a guess ;)

I was in ironic mode Otta - their statement, quoted, is clearly laughable and a lot of silly pretentious nonsense - it is, as you say, obviously an expensive restaurant with an attached bar.

Having said that maybe they'll go down the Palmerston/Franklins route and mask the high-end food area with a few locals sipping pints of mild 'out front' for 'colour' and a dash of authenticity.

If the price of their beers matches their food I fear they may struggle to recruit.

I have sent in my resum? in the hope of a doggie bag come closing time.
