Sorry guys, not White Stuff, The White Company - I was confused at first too. One of my friends asked me if I had been to see the really nice candles for sale in there and me being confused and a big candle person went into White Stuff thinking she was talking about there and had a sales assistant give me a half baffled look. I felt a bit of an idiot. Is there one on North Cross Road? Does this store even exist around here? I'm now more confused than ever and don't even know if said store exists or not.

Louisa.

I like The White Company, I have bought clothes (on sale!) from there before; there is a branch opposite the rear of Peter Jones, off Sloane Square, one in Marylebone High Street, and one in Westfield Stratford, and they are on line. They don't just sell clothes, and their bed linen I love. But yes, they are expensive but I have never experienced poor quality from them. I think East Dulwich would be just the place they'd want to have a store.

End of adverts. I normally get paid for this kind of thing!

I'm happy to spend money on candles, wine and real ale, if they are in a reasonably priced range. I personally think a candle of the size I want, handmade with a beautiful scent, is a wonderful thing for a one off buy. For me a bargain would be between ?35 and ?57, anymore would be daylight robbery, any less would burn too quickly and smell horrible. A burger on the other hand, made with some bizarre road kill and sold from some ageing rusting camper van somehow deeming it 'cool', in the stated range of ?6 to ?12 and bought on a regular basis is the ultimate in middle class oneupmanship.

    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.

    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
