hmmm, I can see a bit of overlap of my favourites with Bellenden Belle,

I make no claims that this is the list of best films ever, purely the films I enjoy the most and would happily rewatch repeatedly, and with that caveat here goes:-

Breakfast at Tiffany's

The Truth About Cats and Dogs

Ferris Buellers Day Off

Before Sunrise / Before Sunset

Charade

High Fidelity

Four Weddings and a Funeral

When Harry met Sally

Bridget Jones

Dirty Dancing

Basically I'm an unashamed chick flick fan and a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn - in my opinion never been nor ever will be a film star more elegant and graceful than her.

Hey, Loz you realise I am not talking about the Oliver Reed "Castaway" but the Tom Hanks "Cast Away" - yep, I know, stodgy Tom doing his thing, stodgily - but he did win a Golden Globe for Best Actor for it. Has it's flaws but a great film.

The fact that no-one else has included "The Pianist" in their list makes me think that people are missing out on this gem.

TBH I'm a big sucker for anything John Carpenter during his purple patch which pretty much ended there

Big Trouble in Little China (1986)

Starman (1984)

Christine (1983)

The Thing (1982)

Escape from New York (1981)

The Fog (1980)

Halloween (1978)

Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)

Dark Star (1974)

a couple of iffy ones during that period - made for TV biopic of Elvis anyone? - and even Ridley Scott can have a GI Jane you know, but not a bad run I'd say.

    • You can get a card at the till, though, to get the discount. You don't have to carry it with you (or load it onto your phone), you can just get a different card each time. Not sure what happens if they notice 🤣
    • Yes..that may be the case but membership STARTING at £115 a month is still unafforable for many. Council gyms also have a large range of equipment and I had a  PT at Dulwich leisure centre when I was in Full Time employment who was incredible and even kept in contact during lockdown giving me a program I could do at home and checking in weekly at no charge or personal gain for herself. I dont doubt that Fit For may be a good gym (Its been in situ long enough so must be doing something right) However the cost of membership means it is affordable for the few not the many. If I could afford that kind of fee I would rather get a train to Canary Wharf and go to Virgin active where theres a pool and incredible classes and facilities
    • This sounds great 👍
    • We found a red TREK bike yesterday that had clearly been stolen and dumped. Would love to reunite it with its owner. Get in touch if you know whose it is.
