I liked both seasons, along with the original language Wallander, Engrenages and The Killing not as much.

Find the whole idea of the bridge being (been?) remade as an Anglo French 'the tunnel' abomination slightly cringeworthy.

The Americans remade The Bridge with a female American detective and a male Mexican one - it worked quite well but not as good as the original I thought, and the second series was even better (I wonder if the Americans will remake this one too). Apparently a third series is being made so we'll find out exactly what has happened re Martin and Jens.

Surely there is no doubt that Martin has offed Jens? Saga admitted to Martin that she committed a crime and stitched up her mother. There must be some trade off in this?

Will they prove Martin did it without Saga's know how? Is this to come?

They have a fooking eco terrorist to catch FFS!

Cannot wait until Series 3. Sadly I reckon it will be about 2 years?

Nah!! Its all supposition.

Saga came to a logical conclusion because:

1 - poison is missing

2 - Martin has access to the poison

3 - Martin blames Jens for the breakdown of his marriage

4 - Martin visited Jens in prison

5 - Saga saw Martin drop an empty coffee cup into a litter bin

6 - Martin habitually takes coffee for Jens in Prison

7 - Jens has died, possibly by suicide, possibly not

Saga told Martin that "I know what you did", Martin said "Yes you do", but are they talking about the same thing?

There is still nothing to say that Martin killed Jens.

If Martin killed Jens, he will be in prison for all of the next series and that is not going to work.

I think that the next series will start with Martin completely pissed off at Saga for dobbing him in for something he didn't do when he was distraught and vulnerable after he was kicked out by his wife. Then people die and other stuff happens ...

Jens asked Martin to help him commit suicide as Martin had got to him. Martin let Jens poison himself and disposed of the tainted coffee cup. Manslaugter not murder. Saga will destroy the cup evidence and Martin will get off, and they will both have evaded the law, and carry on sleuthing.

The next series will not include the ecoterrorist as he got away, unsolved, end of. Great prog.

Not quite. Martin asked "Do you think I did it?" and she replied "You know I do". However, as you say they could be talking about different things, but what?

More than that - she went back to retrieve it and presumably wouldn't have acted without confirmation that the coffee cup contained the poison.

More to the point, however, was that if Jens was indeed poisoned and it turned out to be the same liquid as was from the missing bottle from the evidence store, trying to find a way to unpin it from Martin is going to be impressive. The only other outcomes would be that either Jens wasn't poisoned (unlikely) or that his poisoning wasn't necessarily from the bottle and that Martin (or someone else) had taken it but for other means. Had Martin considered suicide after Mette rejected him, perhaps?

Which does not prove that Martin killed Jens just that Saga thinks he did. Martin did not confirm or deny.

Ah, but was there enough time to do the test? She took the coffee cup in the evening, went to see Martin's boss and shortly after arrested him. As yet, we do not know that the coffee cup contained poison. Previously Martin has left Jens with his coffee. Perhaps the coffee cup that Martin had and binned was simply Martin's coffee cup?

We still have a shadowy bad guy who seems all powerful at the moment. Who is to say that he didn't organise it to disrupt the Martin/ Saga partnership? No more outlandish than any of the other bits of manipulation that he has undertaken.

    • Per Cllr McAsh, as quoted above: “We are currently updating our Enforcement Policy and changes will allow for the issuing of civil penalties ranging from £175 to £300 for visible smoke emissions, replacing the previous reliance on criminal prosecution. " Is anyone au fait with the Clean Air Act 1993, and  particularly with the state of 'Smoke Control' law and practice generally?  I've just been looking  through some of it for the first time and, afaics, the civil penalties mentioned  were introduced into the Clean Air Act, at Schedule 1A, in May 2022.  So it seems that, in this particular,  it's a matter of the enforcement policy trailing well behind the legislation.  I'm not criticising that at all, but am curious.
    • Here's the part of march46's linked-to Southwark News article pertaining to Southwark Council. "Southwark Council were also contacted for a response. "Councillor James McAsh, Cabinet Member for Clean Air, Streets & Waste said: “One of Southwark’s key priorities is to create a healthy environment for our residents. “To achieve this we closely monitor legislation and measures that influence air pollution – our entire borough apart from inland waterways is designated as a Smoke Control Area, and we also offer substantial provision for electric vehicles to promote alternative fuel travel options and our Streets for People strategy. “We as a council support the work of Mums for Lungs and recognise the health and environmental impacts of domestic solid fuel burning, particularly from wood-burning appliances. “We are currently updating our Enforcement Policy and changes will allow for the issuing of civil penalties ranging from £175 to £300 for visible smoke emissions, replacing the previous reliance on criminal prosecution.  “This work is being undertaken in collaboration with other London boroughs as part of the pan-London Wood Burning Project, which aims to harmonise enforcement approaches and share best practice across the capital.” ETA: And here's a post I made a few years ago, with tangential relevance.  https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/278140-early-morning-drone-flying/?do=findComment&comment=1493274
    • The solicitor is also the Executor. Big mistake, but my Aunt was very old, and this was the Covid years and shortly after so impossible to intervene and get a couple of close relatives to do this.  She had no children so this is the nephews and nieces. He is a single practitioner, and most at his age would have long since retired - there is a question over his competence Two letters have already gone essentially complaining - batted off and 'amusingly' one put the blame on us. There are five on our side, all speaking to each other, and ideally would work as a single point of contact.  But he has said that this is not allowed - we've all given approval to act on each others behalf. There are five on her late husband's side, who have not engaged with us despite the suggestion to work as a team, There is one other, who get's the lion's share, the typicical 'friend', but we are long since challenging the will. I would like to put another complaint together that he has not used modern collective communication (I expect that he is incapable) which had seriously delayed the execution of the will.   I know many in their 80s very adept with smart phones so that is not an ageist comment. The house has deteriorated very badly, with cold, damp and a serious leak.  PM me if you want to see the dreadful condition that it is now in. I would also question why if the five of us are happy to work together why all of us need to confirm in writing.             The house was lived in until Feb 23, and has been allowed to get like this.
