not trying to cause outrage here but i think, because it's a tiny tesco (like a sainsbury's LOCAL)that it's really designed to be approached on foot, rather than by car. if travelling by car, obviously sainsbury's -- with the gargantuan carpark -- is a better choice.

It's really only a 'pop in' supermarket for convenience and you'll find that people usually just pop in. When I go there and there are no spaces, I just wait a few minutes and someone will come back to their car. Also, a lot of people park there just to get money out of the cash machine. Car parks are a way of enticing customers to the store really, otherwise it would mean them havng to park in one of the side roads (if you can find one without yellow lines).

Talking of car parks, Somerfield really should have a car park and they'd get more customers. Even the small car park that Iceland has encourages people to shop there.

The little Tesco is useful if you live nearby, or happen to be driving past. But if you're making a special journey by car, then you may as well go to Sainsbury's as their food is much better. Personally the only time I use the Tesco is on Sunday evenings, when the alternatives are limited.

Similar argument for Somerfield - why provide a car park? If you're going to drive, you're better off going the extra half mile to Sainsburys.

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
