PeckhamRose
I've heard the name Bree several times in America and my cousin's husband is indeed Randy.... short for Randall. My dentist's receptionist is called Patience, honest. And she has it in spades. uncleglen
Bree is an Irish name- maybe people hear these names and like them and call their children them without checking the correct spellings. ratty
Back in Portsmouth I knew a couple called John and Dawn Cockhead! Inkmaiden
Bree is not an unusual name in Australia (or the bit I come from anyway) - shortened from Gabrielle. I know three Brees. I knew an Ix once, pronounced "Ish". I suspect he may have made it up himself though.Animal names seem popular at the moment- I've encountered a Tiger, a Bear and a Fox recently. Seabag
Strange hormones and chemicals must fly around when you're a couple expecting a new babyI was very much in favour (for a mental but short time) of naming my yougest son "Ike" . I know, what a thing to do to the poor boy. My wife thankfully put her foot down and traded me her name for a girl, which I wasn't in favour of to say the least "Nubie" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42900-whats-the-most-outrageous-kids-name-youve-ever-heard/page/3/#findComment-736644 Share on other sites
Jeremy
A useful tip for parents arguing over baby names... start with the most awful names you can imagine, and when you finally suggest something vaguely sensible/normal, your partner will gladly agree. Surely the challenge for parents must be to strike that delicate balance between tacky and boring, reference any significant relatives and be "cool" at the same time. Not easy. There's been a spate of Dylans recently but if I ever drop a boy I shall be calling him "Hendrix II". Is that acceptable?
