Found myself browsing Project Gutenberg stuff in an idle moment and came across a book called Sex (Avoided Subjects Discussed in Plain English).

Many anachronistic laughs to be had therein. I particularly liked this bit, as I feel it may offer a glimpse into the author's home life:

THE WIFE AND HER POSITION

The natural instinct of a man is to seek his mate. On her he depends for an orderly and lawful indulgence of his sex demands. The greatest longevity and best health are to be found among happily married fathers and mothers. No young woman should marry without a full knowledge of her sex duties to her husband. And she should never consummate the marriage vow grudgingly.

Courtesy of b3ta, and my test was...

watching the ladies skeleton racing on eurosport this morning, one of the american racers, obviously a bit of a tree-hugger, had a message emblazoned on her board, "save a tree, eat a beaver". when she consequently took the lead, someone congratulated her to which she promptly replied "must be all that beaver i ate". "i won,t even go there" quipped the commentator.

Which just goes to show that cunniligus is not to everyone's taste.

Odd for an American though, they seem to enjoy anchovies on most things.

hmmmmm something on this page is making my Realtime Infection Treatment on my laptop go nuts...

Anyway has anyone seen this? Made me laugh.. and might be used on a few question placed on this forum from time to time.. but that would surely be rude. Wouldn't it?

    • Hi Dogkennelhillbilly, North of East dulwich station is not covered by the Dulwich Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) Suburban requirements.  And 1978 was before this guidance was agreed.  Hi Jenijenjen, We have vacant sites and sites that for certain heights would likely become available. Giibs & Dandy vacant builders yard - neighbours I've spoken to of this site are extremely concerned about what the council may now approve. Kwik Fit, Goose Green Trading Estate instantly come to mind as sites where tall buildings would bring a significant offer to the freeholders to see the sites up. The Southwark Plan treats Giibs & Dandy + Kwik Fit as one site suitable for residential redevelopment. It also lists the Trading Estate for this as well. See page.84 https://www.southwark.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2024-09/Southwark Plan 2022 reduced 1.pdf Do you think developers having seen the council approve a 9 storey redevelopment are more or less likely now to seek the same at other East Duwlcih locations?
    • It's not very important in the great scheme of things, just a tiny piece of ED history! My OH will remember, having a less ancient brain than mine!
    • I've got one you can borrow. I'll message you the details.
