Sun and Doves coverage is probably ha,mpered by licensing laws, but agreed - it seems a bit pointless given that nothing meaninful will come through until hours later

We have a few Americans on board the forum - they might have a better idea - but I reckon house parties = better than pubs for this one

Did everyone see the race-reversed poster of McCain and Obama that Metro reproduced this morning?

The poster campaign was an interesting idea in the image obsessed world of marketing. Here's a big and arresting picture of our candidates that focuses on their race. And here's a small caption reminding us not to think about race too much. And do NOT think about a blue elephant.

On a more petty point, I was fascinated by the result. McCain looked just like himself, but Obama looked really different, and suddenly kind of 'Troy McClure'.

The Obama one looked quite good... I thought the McCain one looked rubbish though, more like an oompa-loompa than a black man.

And the offending lines of that article still ring true,

"The world will endure four more years of idiocy, arrogance and unwarranted bloodshed, with no benevolent deity to watch over and save us. John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr - where are you now that we need you?"

Who is going to stay and watch? I will do my best and have power napped to prepare.

I pray to God (which i don't believe in) that Body Odour gets elected - it will be such a kick to the balls of the rest of the world if Hicksville wins the day and Gramps gets the nod. Lets hope Mr Obama has eight years and uses to show the world that America can be influencial for all the right reasons and more importantly that Americans get into that mindset. Otherwise it will be remembered as 8 years of weak America and Laura Bush will be elected in 2016 to invade Brazil.

GO BARACK.

    • Hi Sue, they were not local solicitors. Andrea’s was based in Wales and the other firms involved were large nationwide conveyancing companies (rather than conventional high street solicitors). I’m happy to advise clients and buyers privately on what I believe to be their shortcomings but I don’t think doing so in public on the forum would be appropriate, particularly as they are not locally based. My general advice would always be to steer clear of the big conveyancing companies as they are, in my experience, notoriously difficult to contact when the need arises and the case handler is often not a fully qualified solicitor and so issues have to be referred upwards to “technical teams” internally, which was part of the problem in Andrea’s chain. • A slightly vulnerable but hopeful post… Hi everyone, I’m a guy in my mid-thirties who’s recently moved back to London and East Dulwich (I previously lived here for many years before, so I know the area well). But if I’m honest, I’ve found the return a little tough. Most of my close friends have moved out of London to start families — totally understandable — but it’s left me feeling a bit adrift and not quite sure how to make new connections again. Work has taken up a huge chunk of my life in recent years, and I’ve definitely let hobbies, interests and a proper social life fall by the wayside. I feel like I went from a fun social life in my 20’s to suddenly blinking and realising things had gone a bit er…quiet. So, I’m trying to redress the balance a bit — mainly so myself and my partner don’t murder each other 😂, and just to meet some new local faces. I was wondering: is anyone else in a similar boat? And would there be any interest in starting a relaxed, low-key local social group? Could be a casual pub meet, sports, park hangouts, live comedy nights — open to ideas!  I’m happy to do the organising/admin side of things — just wanted to put it out there and see if there’s any appetite. I’ll gauge interest and take it from there.  If you’d prefer not to reply publicly, feel free to drop me a DM.  Cheers all! 👋
    • It's Inner London. You could move somewhere else?
