As I said last night, today (until 3pm) they are using 27R and its approach is a km or so north of 27L - so, yes, it will appear as if it's more along the Thames. They are using 27L tonight... and the planes are flying directly overhead bits of ED as its approach corridor is further south than 27R. There's really no mystery here. In days gone by, you must have inadvertently timed your visits to Dulwich Park with them using 9R/L or 27R. Now you're unfortunately synched with when they're using 27L and so you are noticing more planes.

I live in Nunhead and I don't think I ever hear planes that loud. That sounds like Hounslow or something.

Are you sure it wasn't a 176?

So (to be somewhat mercenary for a minute) does this the noise over ED will be worse or better?

So why keep reading the thread? I'm seriously interested. Is it a 'guilty pleasure' or does it really irritate you?

It's a simple case of moronics.

1. The urge to comment on a thread with meaningless irrelevant statements.

2. An urge to tell others how they should think, what they should how they should feel and what they should be saying / doing.

3. A lack of understanding of other people issues and problems.

4. A complete failure in common sense.

5. A desire to be seen as important or funny by making fun of others problems or simply belittling others points of views or issue concerns etc.

6. An inflated sense of their own importance vs other.

7. A moronic Ego.

8. A dead area of the brain which blocks logical thought.

moronics is a growing problem Artful has a bad case which has been developed over many years through a combination of genetics reading online illogical drivel and having lived in a fantasy online community where the members are unwilling incapable or unable "due to also being morons" to correct moronic comments / posts.

moronics is difficult fix, as it become embedded in the ego the sufferer is unable to see it makes them look foolish and stupid.

And we all suffer the constant nonsense it causes.

The flight path seems to pass over southern and central SE22,but I'm not sure what the current flight path is so I don't know if it's worse. It could change the Heathrow flight path, but the City flights can be noisier as they're lower and turning.

The city flights are way less intrusive smaller aircraft which fly over faster and less frequently.

Heathrow is the problem big lumbering whistling jets every 2 mins 40 seconds whining and groaning droning constantly one after the other on the same path.

From 4.30 am.

My experience is very different. Every low flying noisy flight that has woken me up is a late-running London City flight. It may just be where I am, but they seem much louder and jarring especially the prop planes.

But it will get a whole lot worse.

EU rules to modernise flightpath technology are being lazilly implemented or proposed to be implemented. London City Airport are proposing to use new technology that means aircraft will much more accurately follow pre planned standard flight paths. So it means much more intrusive noise for people close the centrelines - some have dubbed it 'noise ghettos' will be created.

This is compunded b Lnodon City Airport having agreement from Tower Hamlets Council to icnrease flgihts from 80,000 to 120,000 per annum.

27% of the time the flights paths for London City Airport fly over Easy Dulwuch, Dulwich, Herne Hill, Brixton Battersea. The fly between 3,000-2,000 ft during their descent.

So a real problem, that will be magnified and dramatically increased.

If you oppose this then do respond to the public consultation - I've put the various links:

James thanks for that.

I still believe that 90% of the aircraft noise we suffer comes from Heathrow bound aircraft.

City Airport flights are currently far quieter and way less frequent.

Proof of this is evident when following live satellite flight data.

Heathrow is THE problem!

We must not get sidetracked by city airport. !
