Lol, I did dabble with internet dating and did get the odd man who completely ignored the age range I had put on my profile, but I didn't get any that were 30 years older, 20 maybe and that was creepy enough.

To be fair, the guys I went out with were all quite normal, just not for me. All nice looking enough, but no feeling of mutual chemistry, conversation a bit hard to get going. Maybe I was expecting too much for a first meeting...

Oh actually, there was one awful one. He lived in London and said he never used public transport which I thought was odd, so I asked what he did when he went out. He said he "knew his limits" when going out and would only have 4 pints or one bottle of wine before driving home. Now that was definitely a deal breaker!

One of my funniest was the guy who turned up two hours late (cafe meet) - I had by that stage given up on him - and then berated me for having had a glass of wine or two during that two hours. No apology for actually turning up waay beyond time. (We'd never met before.)

Then there was the one whose very first utterance was to attack the colour combination of bag and shoes I had that day. (Yes, he actually used the word 'clashing'.) Yes, it was also a first meeting.

I mean, if that's how they start out, what kind of hell are they going to be in three years' time, I ask myself.

The great thing about internet dating is that you can be systematically ruthless.

Yes, it was. James McAvoy is a very good actor, not good looking in the classic sense but there's something about him that's very compelling.

Those ones definitely sound not worth second meetings. I'm impressed you stuck around for 2 hours, I wouldn't have given someone that long. If you are going to be that late surely you just phone and reschedule??

Fab dating tales! Made me chuckle.

The worst of many bad dates for me was when my date (about our 4th meeting) told me off - yes, as if I was a 3 year old - for not having any cash on me to pay for dinner at somewhere that didn't take cards (of which I had plenty). He thought that as he'd paid for the cinema tickets, dinner was on me and got REALLY stroppy when he ended up having to pay. Everything else had been 50:50 up til then...but it just made me realise how much effort he was spending on making sure everything was "fair". I'd like to say that I told him there and then that he was an anally retentive boring b@st'rd and to stick his cinema tickets where the sun didn't shine, but I was in shock.

Needless to say, I didn't agree to a 5th date.

AAhh the delights of internet dating. Don't let these tales put you off - I met Mr JB online and we're still going strong three years later . . . . aaah. I did have a couple of funny experiences on the way through. The worst was with a chap who cancelled the date the first time (his dole check hadn't arrived). For some reason I agreed to see him again and on the morning of the date he emailed me several additional photos so I would recognise him. Number 1 had him mending his car with plastic gloves and a spanner in his mouth, in number 2 he was wearing a leopard print dress and number 3 looked like a mugshot! I still agreed to meet him and spent the whole night watching sweat trickle down his forehead! After a couple of drinks I made my excuses and got home to a text saying ' damn I meant to go for a proper kiss' yeuch. About six months later I got another text from him saying that 'he had found love and he hoped I was happy'

PS: I think that people put too much emphasis on "finding" someone and forget that looking for them is the best part. How else are you to know how lucky you are when you finally do come across the right one?
