Indeed they were DPF as this mini-biog shows:


Educated at Trent College, Lloyd-Jones played for Southill Park for two seasons before joining Clapham Rovers.


He played for them for five years, with that 1880 win over Oxford University being the highlight.


?Clopton?s parents were Welsh ? his father, Charles, was known as the squire of Hanwood ? and that is why he was selected to play for Wales against England in 1885. However, he never gained his cap because he was unavailable for the match,? said Madley.


?At the time of his international selection, he was playing for Castle Blues, in Shrewsbury, who were affiliated to the FA of Wales. He hung up his boots in 1886 when the Blues voluntarily disbanded after being found guilty of violent and dangerous conduct.


?He then represented Shrewsbury on the Shropshire Amateur FA and became deputy captain of the Pengwerne Boat Club in Shrewsbury. He was also a keen cricketer, who played for Herefordshire, Shropshire and Radnorshire county XIs as well as Shrewsbury, Montgomery, Pontesbury and Abbey Foregate at club level.?


He moved from London to Shrewsbury in 1884 and set up business in the town as a bookmaker. He died from cancer of the bladder at the age of 59 and was buried in the Longden Road Cemetery in Shrewsbury.

      Chilli & Garlic - Recommendation

      We had lunch here today. It was really good. I had a salad bowl with falafels. You don't have to have chilli and garlic - they ask you when you order. It was a really generous portion, all very fresh, and the excellent salad  came with three very  large and tasty falafels, two stuffed vine leaves, hummus and tahini. Excellent value. I can't remember exactly how much it was, but around £6 to £7. My partner had a wrap, which he said was good too, and a freshly squeezed juice. We ate in, but I took half of mine home to eat later. There were people in front of us, but we didn't have to wait long. They have a loyalty card - free drink the third time you go, free side the sixth time and a free wrap or bowl the tenth time. Highly recommended!

      No need to wait until next year. They always run a post event feedback meeting. And yes, they were using some new contractors this year because the previous ones were not good enough by their own admission.

      Sorry for dragging this back on topic, but earlier I had a discussion with Luca the site manager who was also singing the praises of the 'new' waste management team. He invited me on to the ground to the east of the 'parkrun start' path to check out how well they'd done. Within 20 paces I'd picked up (and given to him) 2 cellophane filter tip wrappers, 3 fag butts, a 2" screw, assorted scraps of plastic wrappers....! He awkwardly then said they were still onsite, and sent 1 guy out to litter pick. He also made the statement that it's "an impossible task". I will be over there tomorrow to find, collect and document all the remaining litter, to assist with next year's consultation. I think it's important to pass on that type of information?

      Stihl petrol chainsaw wanted

      Hi My friend who’s a local tree surgeon unfortunately had his small Stihl petrol chainsaw stolen last week. As a tree surgeon, this is pretty gutting.    I wondered whether anyone on here might have a spare secondhand one that they don’t use anymore. Or perhaps one that’s been left in a shed or garage gathering dust that isn’t needed. Joe would be delighted and very grateful if we could magic him a replacement soon! 🤩 Thanks so much!  Claire (07946) 728879
