I was in the CPT for second half Keef, I have a friend who is a Livrpool fan, so joined him for the 2nd half, thought it was the best game of the weekend.

Until a certain FA Cup final and this thread I wished no ill on Liverpool. Something has obviously changed, I found myself in the weirdest place today as I cheered a spurs winner. I feel strangely sullied but Im sticking to my guns on this one.

Mwah. Hah ha. Ha.

Got to say Spurs looked good, lively and attacking. Keane should have had a couple and Lennon looked good. The highlights made Liverpool look a bit at sea (unfair?). Seemed to be Gerrard trying to drag the rest along until Yossi came on. Couple of penalty shouts but hey, you win some, you lose some.

Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention Modric. Excellent game.

Quids, plastic it probably was, but somehow I feel happy with that. I am a bit gutted about the result, but basically, I had a good afternoon of drinking, and I'm a lot less pissed off than I would have been before this thread existed, when I genuinely gave a sh!t.
United didn't look that convincing either. A few flashes and Rooney looked lively and I like him playing as a proper striker but the defence looked shaky at times (something that'll come with getting Vidic back). Owen looked like he needs a bit more fitness but I'm looking forward to seeing him this season and I think the loss of Ronaldo may have given Nani a bit more freedom to do his own thing. I just hope this shoulder injury is sorted out.

Nice one SP. Nice way of setting out the benefits of being without Ronaldo, the hypnotherapy sessions are working? ;-)

I actually thought MU looked a little poor today esp as they were at home.

Liverpool - very poor - oh dear

Chelsea - pretty good but chances not taken

Arsenal - Champions elect.

Well MM I actually believe he is a talented player who has been in Ronaldo's shadow for a couple of seasons. He has had a good pre-season as well but we are all entitled to our opinions. You think Arsenal are going to win the league for instance. ;-)

I think your list is interesting. The two teams with the biggest on field changes (United and Liverpool) are the two poorest performing clubs on the opening weekend. Not a coincidence I think, it'll take time for both sides to find their new shape. I agree about United being poor for a home game but it's three points and we made chances. Liverpool will start firing when Torres and Gerrard are fully fit.

Cmon SP, just thought it was funny how MU fans are trying to see the positive side of Ronaldo leaving.

I think Arsenal have as much to offer as anyone this season - I think they have been quite strong since Arshavin joined and have now got a strong central defender too. Obviously their odds are attractive as not many people fancy them.

Does not mean that will not be humbled tomorrow night of course - but I'm sure they will be big enough to come back from that.....

I thought that last season Mick.

The sooner we get rid of those Yank parasites that have latched on to our club, the better. All we've done this summer is weaken ourselves. I know its a knee jerk reaction, but I'm gutted we played so badly. Not impressed.

Wenger can't stop saying FEAR

Wenger

You expect a massive support at Celtic," admitted Wenger.

"Scotland is always a very special atmosphere, a special noise in the stands. But we have played everywhere in Europe and we can deal with that. It will be down to us and how well we play.

"We don?t go into this game with fear. We go with respect for Celtic, but we know it is a very important game for us and we want to come home with a positive result.

"I always prepare my team first with determination and not with fear. We have played everywhere and have good experience in the Champions League. But every game is different and we know what we will face on Tuesday night ? a very determined Celtic team with quality."

Get 3 against Stoke and we have more points than equivalent games last season.

Losing away at Spurs didn't cost us title, draws at home did.

That said we didn't control the game in any period. Lucas just doesn't open himself for the ball as much as Xabi did. Babel still a headless chicken, Masch walks the borderline of getting sent off every match, Torres looked uninterested and the whole vibe felt different from last year. Our last two semi-fit centre backs injuring each other kind of summed up the day.

Altenativately he could be playing mind games with the big fish in the small pond.

Absolute classic!

A Liverpool Manager complaining about the rough deal his side got away from Home (iho)lmao...

Remember the skeletons in the back of cars thru' The 1960's/70'/80's?

"Died waiting for a Penalty while playing at Anfield!"...summed it up perfectly..:))

2-1 to the Tottenham, 2-1 to the Tottenham 2-1 to the Tottenham, 2-1 to the Tottenham.

I told you you're shortcomings would be exposed and they were. Spurs could have been three up at half-time. What if Torres or Gerrard get injured again? The quality of back up isn't good enough for a club of Liverpool's stature. Glenn Hoddle said a similar thing at half-time and when you look at the two squads Spurs had by far the better subs bench and with a few players injured and to come back probably the better squad. Very pleased with the result and a deserved win.

Come on you Spurs!!!!

    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
    • The purge of hard left members that were part of Corbyn's, Mcdonnel's and Lansmans momentum that purged the party of right wing and centrist members. That's politics. It's what Blair did to win, its what Starmer had to do to win. This country doesn't vote in extreme left or right governments. That's partly why Corbyn lost  We're pretty much a centrist bunch.  It doesn't make it false either. It's an opinion based on the voting patterns, demography and statistics. Can you explain then why former mining constituencies that despise the tories voted for them or abstained rather than vote for Corbyns Labour?  What is the truth then? But he never got elected!!! Why? He should have been binned off there and then. Why he was allowed to hang about is an outrage. I hold him party responsible for the shit show that we've had to endure since.
    • Depends on what the Barista says doesnt it? There was no physical confrontation with the driver, OP thinks she is being targetted when she isnt. These guys work min wage under strict schedules so give them a break unless they damage your stuff
